RAISE Community is Hiring a Refugee Support Services Case Aide Near Joplin, MO

Responsibilities of the position:

Primary responsibility is to support Refugee Support Services(RSS) Case Managers and RSS Case Management Coordinator in providing RSS are offered to all clients that are eligible for RSS. Clients are eligible for RSS services for 5 years from the date of their arrival in the United States.

  • Assist with completing required reports for the clients per Missouri Office of Refugee Administration (MO-ORA) guidelines.
  • Family Self Sufficiency Plan
  • Semi-Annual report for each case
  • Periodic updates of client goals and barriers
  • Periodic updates of budget for each case
  • Periodic updates of employment information for each client
  • Assist Resettlement Director with quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports as required from MO-ORA.
  • Assist with ensuring clients are getting needed support services
  • Collaborate with RAISE service specialists to assist clients with:
  • Benefits (SNAP, Medicaid, WIC) inquiries and responses to Department of Family Services (DFS) requests, if RAISE is still helping represent them.
  • Public school needs: teacher / school meetings with translators, follow up on special education needs, etc.
  • Help with specialized health needs (assist with finding specialists and help in making appointments with them)
  • Continuing to develop English language skills, primarily through encouraging attendance at ELL classes provided by RAISE or at other community ELL providers

  • Pursuing educational opportunities that will enhance employment options

  • Securing new housing if needed or desired.
  • Communications with landlords as needed
  • Ensure AR-11 change of address form is completed
  • Record services provided and case notes in appropriate databases
  • Monitor legal immigration status and refer clients for assistance when necessary

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Provide transportation for clients as needed.
  • Using a RAISE vehicle
  • Using a personal vehicle and get reimbursed for mileage
  • Assist Case Management team in other activities as needed
  • Attend weekly Case Management team meeting and weekly staff meeting
  • Attend yearly staff retreat.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to use a variety of software applications (Google workspace for email,calendar, productivity apps; Monday for project management; Database software)
  • Attention to detail, particularly for inputting data in MO-RAP (state refugee database)and IRIS (national agency database)
  • Patient, friendly demeanor, and empathy for people with limited English skills from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds.
  • Commitment to client confidentiality
  • Preferred qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree:
  • Preferred major or minor in International Studies or Social Work
  • Experience working cross culturally
  • Social work experience
  • Arabic, Dari, French, Haitian Creole, Pashto, Rohingya, Spanish, Swahili, Ukrainian, Urdu, Zaghawa

Report to: RSS Case Management Coordinator

Compensation:

  • This is a part-time W2 position. All appropriate Federal and State taxes will be withheld per IRS W-4 and MO W-4.
  • Pay: $18 per hour based
  • Hours: 35-40 hours per week average
  • Payment is monthly. No later than the 10th of the following month if the timesheet is submitted prior to that date. If the timesheet is submitted on or after the 10th payment will be made on Friday for time sheets turned in by Wednesday.
  • This position does not include PTO or any benefits
