Responsibilities :

  • Coordinate train movements to optimize operations
  • Ensure security of all train movements and other track equipment/employees
  • Take operational decisions based on their order of priority
  • Reduce delays
  • Enter information in various control systems
  • Maintain a constant knowledge of day to day operations Resolve various problems

Profile and Competencies of a Candidate :

  • Comprehension and application of various railway rules
  • Understand and visualize the immediate situation of the railroad under the present and upcoming circumstances
  • Autonomous under minimum supervision
  • Ability to work under pressure in a restricted environment
  • Capacity to manage and communicate during ambiguous situations
  • Ability to plan, be organized and be attentive to detail
  • Ability to determine and manage your priorities
  • Capability to determine travel times based on speed and distance
  • Multi-tasking
  • Establish and maintain good interpersonal relations with customers
  • Communicate effectively
  • The ability to disarm dangerous or tense situations

Qualifications:

Required :

  • High School degree
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer-literacy (MS Office Suite)

Important :

  • Fast typing skills

Assets :

  • Post-High School education
  • Previous relevant work experience
  • Previous work experience in the railroad industry

Dynamic and motivated, the candidate selected must be ready to work shifts (day/afternoon/night), including weekends and holidays. You could be called to work overtime. As well, you must demonstrate both the ability to adapt in a constantly evolving environment and the ability to work on your own.

Salary: During training: $17.10/hour during Training

Once qualified: $24.51/hour
