Job Description

Reinicke Athens, Inc. has an IMMEDIATE need for a skilled and organized Steel Field Superintendent to join our Athens, GA team! We are looking for experience in industrial construction to include structural steel erection. You will have the opportunity to build your own crew. This position requires travel to jobsites in the Southeast, and per diem is offered for those who qualify!

Responsibilities:

  • Read and understand the contract and all contract documents
  • Interprets drawings and specifications and identify deviations
  • Identify and reconcile with the project manager any changes in a timely manner
  • Ensure compliance with the Quality Assurance/Quality Control inspection plans and procedures.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance and update the Project Schedule.
  • Supervise and coordinate all Construction activities and coordinate schedules.
  • Ensure work is completed satisfactorily according to contract schedule.
  • Maintain a personal daily log of events, progress, problems, issues, and delays/impacts.
  • Coordinate with appropriate entities for delivery of materials and equipment. Assure that material and equipment deliveries are progressing in a manner that supports customer needs and the project schedule.
  • Assist project manager with maintaining and monitoring projected Costs (labor, material, equipment and subcontractors).
  • Evaluate craftsmen including ensuring all assigned duties are performed competently to achieve project objectives.
  • Plan Construction procedures
  • Supervise subcontractors scope of work
  • Meet with Supervisors, Foreman & Quality Control to optimize work
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure that workmanship is conforming to specifications
  • Ensure work conforms to standards and specifications.
  • Demonstrate personal commitment to Health, Safety and the Environment by following and comply with Health, Safety & Environmental Regulations, Corporate Health, Safety & Environment Policy, and applying Company's Safety Management Systems
  • Assist in ensuring the proper closeout of project including transmittal of final documentation to client.
  • Coordinate the allocation of site space adequate for trailers, laydown, warehousing and staging for manpower, material and equipment.
  • Initiate and/or participate in the development of change orders and back charges

Requirements

  • Ability to work a 7am-5:30pm schedule Monday-Friday with some Saturdays. Overtime pay is offered.
  • A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in steel construction projects, industrial experience preferred
  • Ideal candidate should have five (5) years of experience supervising major industrial steel construction projects.
  • Must be able to read and interpret structural steel blueprints
  • Candidate should have extensive knowledge in construction code/OSHA.
  • Must have the ability to meet schedules, work with other trades, multi-task, complete project scopes, manage safety, quality and delivery of work. Candidate must have excellent communication, negotiation and organization skills.
  • A background with Word, Excel and Microsoft Office is preferred.
  • Knowledge of AWS and AISC codes applicable to steel erection, is preferred
  • NDT testing and welding experience are a plus
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
  • Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
