RadNet | HD Palmdale Imaging Center is Hiring a Limited X-Ray Technician Near Street, MD

Schedule: 8:00am to 5:00pm-Monday-Friday

We invite you to come join the RadNet Radiology team as a Limited X-Ray Technologist at our RadNet | HD Palmdale Imaging Center located in Palmdale, California. This is a Full-time position with a schedule of Monday -Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.Our centers are multi-modality and provide a wide variety of diagnostic imaging services to patients in a friendly and comfortable environment.

The Limited X-Ray Technician provides patient services using imaging modalities, performs radiographic procedures within legal scope of practice/license, applies principles of radiation protection, evaluates radiographs for technical quality, exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures, and provides patient care essential to radiology procedures. The person in this position responds to patient questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and processes. He/she maintains appropriate confidentiality regarding personal health information, including but not limited to demographics, diagnosis, health history, and physician referral information. This person is responsible for all paperwork associated with technical procedures and responds to physician questions and needs regarding patient procedures. Some technicians may work under the direct medical supervision of a physician during certain procedures.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs high quality DEXA (Bone Density) and diagnostic radiographic services (limited to chest, extremities, skull, and torso-skeletal) on patients, within the legal scope of licensure.
  • Monitors patient's well being during exams; recognizes patient discomfort or medical problems and takes appropriate action.
  • Responds to physician questions regarding exams.
  • Greets incoming patients and visitors.
  • Coordinates with office staff for timely care of patients.
  • Cross-trains and helps as needed with patient registration, as a Technologist Aide, and/or in other departments.
  • Operates imaging equipment correctly.
  • Positions patients correctly.
  • Explains the radiology procedure to the patient prior to performing the exam.
  • Immobilizes the patient as necessary.
  • Practices radiation protection.
  • Evaluates radiographs and/or DEXA scans for technical quality.
  • Maintains patient records and filing system.
  • Prepares supply orders and forwards them to the radiology technologist.
  • Maintains equipment and keeps work area clean.
  • Produces high quality diagnostic images and /or bone density scans in a timely manner while providing excellent patient care.
  • Treats patients and customers, including family members or care providers that may accompany the patient, with courtesy, professionalism and respect.
  • Understands and uses the scales, field of view, gain, voltage, amps and other adjustments and factors on the equipment in order to produce high quality images and/or DEXA scans.
  • Uses ALARA concept to minimize patient radiation doses. Documents and reports any over-exposure and advises management immediately.
  • Checks patient history and obtains signed waiver, if necessary.
  • Consults with radiologist when necessary to determine appropriate imaging procedure.
  • Completes all paperwork and exam reports associated with technical procedures.
  • Checks referral for appropriate exam based on patient history.
  • Keeps exam rooms and dressing booths clean and properly stocked with supplies.
  • Assures room is ready prior to the patient entering the room (i.e. equipment is operable, all supplies are readily available, and has been appropriately cleaned and prepped).
  • Handles delicate situations in a supportive and empathetic manner (“good bedside manner”) while maintaining appropriate confidentiality regarding exam outcomes or potential issues.
  • Keeps patient schedule and accommodates add-on patients when requested.
  • Communicates delays or changes in the schedule to the appropriate person(s).
  • Exercises sound judgment regarding image quality; seeks guidance from radiologist if concerned about what image reveals and obtains prior approval before doing additional views in order to better diagnose the patient’s possible pathology.
  • Releases patient with proper follow-up information.
  • Monitors patient library and print films as needed.
  • Guides patients through a sometimes difficult process by kindly talking them through the steps and answering their questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and processes.
  • Participates in projects and completes other tasks as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experience

  • Must have a current state Limited X-ray Technician License/Permit, which must include/cover digital radiography, chest, extremities, skull, and torso-skeletal.
  • Successful completion of a limited X-Ray Technician program.
  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • Complete DEXA training according to Regional Practice Protocols and obtain a state Bone Densitometry Permit/License.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Maintain license and continuing education in accordance with state, federal, and regulatory agencies’ rules and regulations.
  • Ability to relate to the public in a professional and courteous manner, understanding the objectives of the organization, regardless of racial, ethnic, religion, sexual orientation, gender, mental/physical health, age, economic status, etc.
  • Familiarity with and ability to use specialized equipment.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations in a calm and appropriate fashion.
  • The above knowledge, skills and abilities may be demonstrated by successful completion of an accredited radiography program; state and federal licenses (as applicable); and appropriate registrations and/or certifications.
  • Possesses excellent customer service skills; strong written and verbal communications skills, and other medical related skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to interact effectively with doctors, patients, vendors, peers, staff and management.

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
