RADIOLOGY AND IMAGING SPECIALISTSJOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title:Medical Records Specialist
Location:Crystal Grove Office
Division/Dept.:Radiology and Imaging Specialists
Reports To:Office Supervisor
Type of Shift:Full Time
JOB SUMMARY
The Medical Records Specialist performs a variety of clerical duties in the medical records department while maintaining a high level of customer service and quality patient care. Administration of the Medical Records Specialistprocess includes scheduling outside exams for interpretation, burning CDs, faxing reports and preparing addendums inan efficient and timely manner and ensuring overall patient satisfaction.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Schedules and tracks outside studies.
2. Digitizes outside films and sets them in the correct anatomical position for radiologist review.
3. Receives addendum requests from referring physician offices and communicates with radiologists via phone or e-mailto process addendum requests. Follows up on requests to ensure that the referring physician receives addended results.
4. Navigates the Centricity-RIS IC system to fax reports requested by referring physicians.
5. Performs duties of the switchboard as needed by answering phone calls in a pleasant and helpful manner. Transfersphone calls to the appropriate RIS location/employee.
6. Acts as a backup for processing subpoenas and attorney requests when necessary.
7. Receives requests from Informatics department to retrieve radiology images and reports from hospitals to be uploadedto Avreo for patient exams scheduled at RIS facilities.
8. Downloads outside studies, burns CDs for patients and referring physicians. Communicates with RIS offices if studiesare needed on film.
9. Promotes teamwork by assisting other staff as needed.
10. Customer Service.
WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
2 or more years in the Medical Field preferred.
1 year minimum of Medical Records knowledge.
High school diploma or GED.
SKILLS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, patients and referring physician offices, and the ability to work independently.
This job requires prolonged sitting or standing, frequent bending, stooping, or stretching; Must be able to see with or without corrective eyewear, must be able to hear clearly, with or without assistance. This position may require lifting 25 plus pounds.
