R.J. Julia Booksellers is Hiring a Social Media Specialist Near Madison, CT

The core responsibility of the Social Media Specialist is to achieve superior customer engagement, increase website and in-store traffic, and augment revenue by strategically exploiting all aspects of social media marketing. This individual is responsible for managing all day-to-day activities across several social media channels.

The Social Media Specialist must have a solid understanding of how each social media channel works and how to optimize content so that it is engaging on those channels. This individual is responsible for joining relevant conversations on behalf of RJ Julia Booksellers.

The Social Media Specialist is a highly motivated, creative individual with solid experience and a passion for connecting with current and future customers. That passion comes through as they engage with customers daily, with the goal of converting followers into customers and converting customers into brand loyalists.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate, edit, publish, and share content (original text, images, video) from the bookstore: new book releases, product displays, store merchandise, staff recommendations, and trending book content.
  • Content should build meaningful connections and encourage followers to act i.e., register for an event, visit the website, make a purchase, and/or engage with the content.
  • Design, create, and manage promotions and social ad campaigns, being sure to integrate RJ Julia’s overall marketing plans and goals while maintaining brand consistency across all social and digital platforms.
  • Engage with the RJ Julia community online including publishers, authors, and readers. Moderate all user-generated content in an engaging, empathetic, and energetic manner.
  • Create appropriate editorial calendars across all social channels.
  • Collaborate with other departments.
  • Measure and analyze data.
  • Continuously improve content by capturing and analyzing the appropriate data/metrics, insights, and best practices, and then acting on the information.

Skill Requirements:

  • Proven working experience in social media or digital media marketing, ideally 5 years.
  • Demonstrable social networking experience and social analytics tools knowledge.
  • Possesses knowledge and experience in the tenets of traditional marketing and online marketing.
  • Excellent consulting, writing, editing (photo/video/text), presentation, and communication skills.
  • Is a team player with the confidence to take the lead and guide other employees when necessary. (i.e., content development)
  • Demonstrates empathy, patience, advocacy, and conflict resolution with customers and colleagues alike.
  • Exhibits the ability to jump from the creative side of marketing to analytical side, able to demonstrate why their ideas are analytically sound.
  • Adequate knowledge of web design, web development, and SEO.
  • Positive attitude, detail and customer oriented, with good multitasking and organizational ability
  • Exceeds at building and maintaining relationships, online and off.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to independently move projects forward, prioritize tasks, and meet multiple deadlines. Comfortable with a fast-paced environment.
  • BS/BA in Communications, Marketing, Business, New Media, or Public Relations

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 30 per week
