Description
Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, The cost accountant position is accountable for the ongoing analysis of process constraints, target costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities. The cost accountant must also construct and monitor those cost-effective data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of costing information to management.
Requirements
Essential Functions & Responsibilities

1. Planning, Studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory and labor.
2. Analyzing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost
3. Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing estimated costs to actual production costs
4. Performing and analyzing audits of costs and preparing reports
5. Making estimates of new and proposed product costs
6. Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting profitability of products or services.
7. Maintaining Cost Accounting System
8. Assisting in Month end close of the General Ledger including the preparation of journal entries
9. Monitoring cycle count program
10. Reconciling raw material, work-in-process and finished goods inventories
11. Ensuring that shop orders are closed appropriately
12. Conducting inventory reserve analysis monthly
13. Preparing percentage of completion analysis on applicable orders
14. Maintaining fixed asset system
15. Analyzing capital budgeting requests and monitoring capital expenditures
16. Analyzing the production departments’ expenses
17. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
1. A minimum of an BA/BS Degree in accounting and 3 years experience in cost accounting is required.
2. Job costing experience required.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders of the organization, which requires excellent written and oral communications skills.
2. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, with advanced proficiency in the use of Excel.
3. Proficient in the use of data query tools.
4. Ability to work independently and prioritize work.
