R.B. Pharr & Associates is HIRING! We are seeking experienced Crew Chiefs with leadership skills and experience in surveying who are looking for opportunities to grow in the land surveying industry with a local leader.

Job responsibilities:

  • Organizes and coordinates the work of a survey party to perform surveys of various types including ALTA/NSPS Land title surveys, Boundary surveys, Physical surveys, GPS control surveys, As-Built surveys, Topographic surveys, and setting control in support of Drone surveys
  • Instruct and train crew members in use of survey equipment and field procedures
  • Gather field survey data using electronic total stations, data collectors, and GPS equipment
  • Ensures that field survey data is collected according to the standards set by North Carolina and South Carolina Board Rules
  • Collects data; downloads data; checks data for anything out of place; and corrects inaccuracies
  • Ensures safety during field work surveys
  • Reviews deeds, plats, DOT plans, and other engineering plans
  • Keeping accurate field notes

Job knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for role:

  • Ability to operate Carlson software for data collection
  • Knowledge of geometry and trigonometry
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of land surveying and mathematics as applied to surveying
  • Ability to operate survey equipment and collect field survey data
  • Ability to communicate with crew members and other staff to ensure accurate surveys

Minimum qualifications for role:

  • High school degree and/or specialized training from a technical school
  • Good written communication skills
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Ability to use coordinate geometry (COGO)
  • Ability to cut or clear vegetation to establish survey lines with cutting tools (Bush axe, machete, etc...)
  • 2-4 years of related work experience in land surveying
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history
  • Knowledge of survey equipment and data collection devices
  • Ability to travel (as needed)

Job type:

  • Full time with the potential for overtime hours

Compensation:

  • Pay potential of $65,000 to $75,000 depending on experience
