Reporting to the Practice Manager the Technician assists Doctors with patient coordination and preparation, performing patient visual tests and ensuring patient charts are updated and accurate to deliver the highest level of service. Training provided for right candidates.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform visual acuity testing and assist physicians in minor office procedures.
  • Record, review and verify patient information in the EMS and chart for the appointment.
  • Assist ophthalmology patients by providing information and services; patient evaluations, vision health testing, lens fitting and care orientations.
  • Counsel and educate patients by reiterating physician orders for eye care.
  • Update patient records using high level of proficiency within the EMS or other related system.
  • Assist the physician with documentation of the patient's medical record.
  • Comply with all HIPPA regulations in all interactions with patient information
  • Other related duties as assigned
TRAVEL:
  • Must be able to travel to different area clinic locations, outside of the primary location(s) assignments at times, based on patient needs and appointments. Management attempts to maintain regional responsibilities to limit travel outside of primary location assignments, however, must be able to travel from time to time to other clinic locations.
Required Qualification
  • High School graduate/GED equivalent
  • 3 years prior ophthalmic technician experience
  • COT or COA certification preferred
