Quest Peoria Charter School Academy is Hiring a Math Interventionist Near Peoria, IL

Job Title: Math Interventionist

Reports to: Executive Director

Primary Role and Purpose:

The interventionist will develop and implement a comprehensive format for monitoring school-wide Math improvement. This includes but not limited to utilizing all Math data to drive teacher and student instruction and professional development. The interventionists is also responsible for working with the administrative team to build a comprehensive data driven Math program which is developmentally accurate for all students. And meets the academic preventative/enrichment side of our students as well as their career, social, and emotional needs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

 1. Track and monitor grades, test scores, pd opportunities, and serve on the RTI team.

 2. Provide connections with families for resource and social/emotional support systems.

 3. Serve on the Instructional Leadership Team and provide weekly data reports to the team.

 4. Meet with the Executive Director as scheduled to provide data updates and next steps.

 5. Provide support to students and staff around specified Math best practices. 

 6. Support classroom Instruction and school-wide Curriculum

  • Work with teachers to initiate interventions that maximize learning by teaching study skills, enhancing test-taking skills, and motivating students to learn and achieve.
  • Incorporate into the Math program the life skills necessary to be successful in the twenty-first century.
  • Work with teachers to selct and or develop curriculum to promote successful academic performance.

 7. Provide Crisis Intervention

  • Involve appropriate school and community professionals to assist students and families facing crisis situations.
  • Intervene appropriately and ethically with students who may be suicidal or homicidal.

 8. Provide Individual and Group Interventions

  • Support students on personal and social issues affecting their Math development (long-term and short-term goals).
  • Make referrals to appropriate professionals, when necessary, and provide follow-up.
  • Implement developmentally appropriate and prevention-oriented group activities to meet student needs and school goals.

 9. Provide Individual Student Planning

  • Assist administrators and teachers in implementing the RTI procedures identified for at-risk students.
  • Identify and monitor appropriate instructional Math interventions, and enriichments for all students.

10. School Responsibilities

  • Develop the Math reports for students, parents, teachers, board members, administrative team.
  • Keep parents informed in newsletters, email or by mail of test dates, local college events, and Math events/activities.
  • Educate and support families and parents on students' Math academic growth.
  • Assist new students and orientate them to school procedures.
  • Participate in staff and committee meetings, as assigned.
  • Participate in parent/teacher conference days and open houses for prospective and incoming students.
  • Create, support and participate in all school activities that represent Math and integrate other content areas.
  • Support creating opportunities for celebrating Math success.
  • Maintain communication with parents through telephone calls, correspondence, and meetings regarding Math success.
  • Maintain student records and protect confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong Math skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary
  • Provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
  • Provide evidence that a criminal record history check has been conducted and clearance given
  • Pass state required TB test

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Charter School Experience
  • Experience working in an Urban setting
  • Strong understanding of data analysis
