Position Role Type
The Quest Defense Product Definition Team seeks a highly focused and skilled Product Drafting / Model Based Definition Technical Leader who is an experienced, team player with a high level of initiative and the ability to lead in an environment of swiftly changing priorities in defining and releasing complex aerospace products.
What you will be doing:
Product Definition at the customer is a combination of two key areas of expertise: traditional drafting and the future of model-based definition. The successful applicant will have the flexibility and experience to lead both types of practice in an aerospace environment. When leading this team, you will lead engineering staff who produce 3D models and 2D layout drawings of the product to meet both engineering and customer requirements. Your team will be responsible for creating solid models and detailed drawings of various military aircraft components and assemblies across many sub-system and/or jet engine mod centers. The team will also be performing tolerance studies, and making sure that the models and drawings accurately define a manufacturable product for military development programs.
Experience with industry specifications and in-depth knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) is important to ensure all drawings the team completes are accurate, fully dimensioned and in alignment with tolerance studies.
A relevant past, or educational experience in designing, developing, and analyzing complex assemblies in a 3D mechanical drafting environment is required. The candidate would benefit from strong understanding of mechanical principles and demonstrate proficiency in reading and interpreting models, assemblies, and piece part drawings. An in-depth comprehension of GD&T practices, along with the tolerance analysis of assemblies and piece parts is required.
