SUMMARY: The Graduate Assistant (two positions) will provide program and project management for an ongoing grant with the North Carolina's Division of Aging and Adult Services focused on enhancing digital health equity for aging adults throughout North Carolina. At the direction of Dr. Zachary White, the Program Graduate Assistantships will participate in all three phases of this project, including project design, development phase, and deployment. This will include serving as the support project partner on all aspects of supporting and executing the strategies of the project. In addition, GAs will be expected to meet with Dr. White on a scheduled basis.
Location : The position is based out of Queens University of Charlotte and may involve hybrid work and travel across North Carolina.
The role is renewable based on performance per semester. The GA position begins immediately and is expected to work up to 19 hours a week per semester. The successful candidate must be enrolled as a full-time graduate student at Queens University of Charlotte. There is no expressed or implied commitment to a paid position upon completion of the internship. This role is eligible for tuition remission for up to six credit hours per semester (up to 5 total semesters) and a stipend. No housing is offered.
The GA will learn and apply knowledge involving the following:
Leadership
  • Analyze and troubleshoot program/project components to arrive at a logical course of action while knowing when to seek support or assistance
  • Work effectively independently and as a member of a team
  • Possess high levels of professional acumen, judgment, and leadership to serve in a variety of capacities, as needed.
Program/Project Management
  • Engage in excellent organization and follow-up/follow-through skills to ensure program/project objectives are met within established timeframes, and program evaluation/assessment is conducted appropriately
  • Conduct effective planning, organizing, resourcing and executing of large and small tasks/projects through to completion (e.g., this could involve participating in digital literacy curriculum reviews, researching existing programs, revising a Digital Literacy Toolkit, creating marketing material for program development, focus group and design-centered interactions with experts in the field and designated audiences).
  • Exercise attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness to effectively prioritize assignments and competing demands to meet given deadlines and program objectives
Community Engagement
  • Engage various constituencies across differences of race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic class, and ability backgrounds
  • Build rapport, manage relationships at various organizational levels, and exercise tact/diplomacy when working with internal community members, as well as exercise cultural competence with internal and external community members
Qualifications
  • Must be a current, full-time graduate student at Queens University of Charlotte.
  • Advanced Business Software Skills (primarily Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Slack , SharePoint, RingCentral, etc., and the ability to quickly learn other university specific software)
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and experience interacting with multiple audiences.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to help craft and share stories about programmatic efforts, internally and externally

Work Conditions
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule to meet requirements of the Graduate Assistantship.

  • This internship has deadlines, multiple interruptions, and can be stressful.
