The Senior Risk and Control Analyst will play a critical role in facilitating and maturing the Enterprise Risk Management Program, along with developing and facilitating internal audits. This position will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify, assess, and mitigate risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards. Responsibilities

  • Serve as a ERM (Enterprise Risk Management) Business Partner
    • Coordinate enterprise-wide risk assessments, facilitate and document risk-focused communication, identify and champion opportunities for process improvement.
    • Engagingly partner with risk domain leaders to identify, mature, and track quantitative and qualitative key risk indicators and key performance indicators (KRIs/KPIs) to support senior management in making information risk aware decisions. Documenting them within the enterprise risk management tool.
    • Responsible for developing, monitoring, and tracking of metrics to monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of risk mitigation controls and activities.
    • Conduct research and advise Sr. Director, Audit & ERM on best practices to ensure well-rounded programs.
    • Lead the development of reports/dashboards to senior management on ERM activities and potential risks. Manage the risk assessment data gathering process and development/maintenance of risk heat maps, dashboards, and requirements.
    • Manage the investigation, documentation, and remediation of all suspected and reported enterprise risk events.
  • Perform Internal Control testing
    •  Perform design and implementation testing, ensuring the processes and internal controls are effectively mitigating all risks identified.
    • Conduct periodic audits and quality assurance reviews of risk processes, policies, and the control environment.
    • Challenge previous business outcomes and make recommendations supported by audit procedures to mitigate future risks and to strengthen processes and internal controls.
    • Assess formal remediation plans prepared by key stakeholders to mitigate future risks and to ensure adequate processes and internal controls.
    • Communicate findings and recommendations to process owners and to the Audit Oversight Committee.
  • Conduct risk assessments and other internal investigations. Evaluate the design of processes and internal controls and establish complex audit plans to evaluate and effectively mitigate financial, compliance, operational, and reputational risks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, Accounting, Audit or related discipline, or equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of education
  • 4 years of experience in auditing (external or internal), financial analysis, or risk management
  • Preferred experience in public accounting, auditing information technology processes, and /or auditing health insurance operations
  • Certification as a CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CIA (Certified Internal Auditor), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or in risk management preferred
  • Ability to interact with personnel at all levels in the organization and external contacts
  • Effective presentation skills and public speaking skills; Ability to respond and communicate openly, honestly, and directly with others, adapting communication vehicles and styles to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to think “outside the box” by blending research and ideas learned from prior experiences, other departments, other companies, or training to improve current work methods or solve common problems
  • Ability to anticipate obstacles, barriers, or gaps, to navigate through ambiguity, and work to continuously improve organizational capability to deliver results
  • Effective project management skills to manage concurrent projects
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Advanced in reporting tools to develop charts, graphs, variances, and summations (i.e. Business Objects)
  • Possess strong technical skills including the ability to effectively utilize technology and the commitment to learning in the technology environment
  • Continued education to gain additional insurance and internal auditing knowledge and enhance technical skills with the completion of Medical Terminology course and through ongoing classes

This position may work remotely but will be required to report to our office in Madison, WI as needed. Hardware and equipment will be provided by the company, but candidates must have access to high-speed, non-satellite Internet to successfully work from home.
