Quartz is seeking a Business Intelligence (BI) Developer to join our Enterprise Data Management (EDM) Team. This role is responsible for the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of the business intelligence and reporting solutions integrated with Enterprise Data Warehouse, data marts, and operational databases. Under the guidance of the EDM staff, the BI Developer will work with the business and IT stakeholders to deliver efficient and scalable business intelligence implementations. This position will also interact with a wide variety of business users throughout the company to evaluate the state of data at Quartz and deliver business intelligence capabilities in a reliable, easy-to-use manner.

Responsibilities

  • Complete full BI development lifecycle including semantic layer design, report design and development, testing, and deployment.
    •  Partner with business owners and data analysts to review, interpret, and optimize business requirements for reporting solutions.
    • Translate reporting requirements and report specifications into technical BI solution design.
    • Design semantic layer and SQL-based business intelligence, reporting and analysis applications.
    • Execute unit and/or parallel testing with aid of business owner and data analysts, as necessary.
    • Develop, implement, and maintain standards and procedures for the design and use of business intelligence reporting and analysis tools.
  • Provide maintenance and support for BI and reporting solutions, including but not limited to:
    •  Provide technical expertise on information integration, and the implementation and use of business intelligence tools.
    • Develop and execute SQL queries of medium to high complexity in order to respond to information requests.
    • Assist business users with functional questions in the Business Objects tools.
    • Provide timely product support for business intelligence solutions.
    • Participate in support rotation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of education requirement
  • 2 years of experience translating business requirements into technical implementations, designing, and developing business intelligence and reporting solutions, working with normalized relational databases and dimensional data warehouse implementations, and writing complex SQL queries (linking tables, conditional joints, etc.)
  • Experience with Business Objects preferred
  • Working knowledge of enterprise business intelligence platforms (Business Objects, Power BI, Cognos, Tableau or similar)
  • Working knowledge of data warehouse design principles and associated data management and delivery requirements
  • Proficiency in SQL development, preferably on multiple database management platforms
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (spreadsheets, pivot tables, link workbooks, etc.)
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to business users
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work independently, and be adaptable to change
  • Must be inquisitive and seek answers to questions without being prompted

This position may work remotely but will be required to report to our office in Madison, WI as needed. Hardware and equipment will be provided by the company, but candidates must have access to high-speed, non-satellite Internet to successfully work from home.
