Overview:
Quantum Research International, Inc. Mission:

Quantum is seeking an experienced candidate to serve as a Senior Network and Computer Systems Administrator to join our team supporting the Department of Defense (DoD) High Performance Computing (HPC) Modernization Program (DoD HPCMP) and the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) DoD Supercomputing Resource Center (DSRC) located at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. This position maintains operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network engineers.

Duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery to existing systems. Develops and monitors policies and standards related to the use of resources. Participates in technical forums and represents our company in joint meetings with the customer on technical topics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides for RedHat Linux systems administration, performance tuning, client security administration, systems software support, and technology assessments in support of a multi-platform UNIX environment.
  • Performs systems enhancement, configuration, maintenance, installation, interfaces, coordination, and software installations and upgrades to UNIX operating systems and layered software packages.
  • Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum level of performance in accordance with established policies, procedures, and service level agreements.
  • May assist with network modeling analysis, planning and coordination between network and data communication hardware and software.
  • Performs acceptance testing of modules, subsystems, and total systems. Will be responsible to perform software installation and configuration.
  • Monitoring log files, performance issues, and the production environment for mission critical systems.
  • Demonstrating ability to set priorities and organize work to meet deadlines.
  • Administer network security measures as required
  • Ensuring compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.

Required Experience:

  • BS degree with 4 years exp is preferred or will consider , MS 2, AS 6 or HS diploma with a minimum of 8years' experience performing Computer Systems Administrator and information technology functions
  • Support the Government in the development of certification and accreditation (C&A) packages as required
  • Hold current DOD 8570 IAT II certification (CCNA-Security, CND, CySA , GICSP, GSEC, Security CE, or SSCP).
  • Solid Understanding of Network Computer System Administration and supporting government customer, policy and security procedures
  • Knowledge of release management tools and techniques.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Server Management.
  • Experience with RHEL.
  • Knowledge of cyber defensive architecture and technologies to protect, detect and respond to cyber threats and attack
  • Technologies include SIEM, vulnerability assessment, discovery, infrastructure (firewall, IPS/IDS, proxy, network capture), host-based security, penetration testing/external assessment tools, forensics, etc.
  • Current DoD TOP SECRET clearance required to start.
  • Must be a US citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.

  • Experience in various HPC systems, various HPC technologies
  • Cray/Cray EX, IBM, SGI, Penguin, or custom architectures
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, or Linux variants operating systems (OS)
  • Portable Batch System (PBS), Simple Linux Utility for Resource Management (SLURM), or IBM Platform Load Sharing Facility (LSF) schedulers
  • Intel Xeon, AMD EPYC, or ARM CPUs
  • Nvidia graphic processing units (GPU)s
  • ITIL Foundation DoD cybersecurity experience is a plus
  • Experience with databases (MS SQL, PostgreSQL)
  • Working knowledge or experience operating under and managing systems within NISPOM Chapter 8, DCID 6/3-ICD 503, RMF, STIG, JAFAN, or JSIG information system environments is a plus
  • VMWare experience with current version
  • Knowledge of environmental monitoring tools (HBSS/Solar Winds/Splunk)
  • Rudimentary Scripting
  • Creation and deployment of system images in an enterprise environment
