Quanterix is Hiring a Product Manager, Tissue Diagnostics Near Billerica, MA

Quanterix is a company that is digitizing biomarker analysis with the goal of advancing the science of precision health. The company’s ultra-sensitive detection solution, Simoa, has the potential to change the way in which healthcare is provided today by giving researchers the ability to closely examine the role of biomarkers in the continuum of health to disease. The technology is currently being used for research applications in several therapeutic areas, including oncology, neurology, cardiology, inflammation and infectious disease.

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated product and business-oriented scientist with several years of experience innovating and contributing significantly to the development of new analytical platforms in the emerging field of spatial biology. The successful candidate will have advanced knowledge of spatial biology technologies and applications, in roles ranging from field applications support, technical training, and product management. The candidate will be involved in many aspects of product and service development, including internal methods development supporting R&D, supporting early adopters and collaborators, product definition and management. Products will include reagents, hardware, and software for image analysis and data analysis.

The Tissue Diagnostics business unit at Quanterix will develop and sell spatial biology solutions targeting the industry that supports pharmaceutical drug trials and clinical applications. Candidates should be well versed in biomarker science, translational pathology, cancer biology and immunology, microscopy, multispectral image processing and analysis, and in commercialization of platforms for spatial biology. The role includes opportunities to interact with customers and collaborators. This Product Manager role will report to the Vice President, Tissue Diagnostics Research at Quanterix.

What You’ll Do:

  • As a founding member of a new division and team, work across functions to help drive product development, market cultivation and commercialization, with a focus on imaging hardware and software.
  • Product development activities will include working with the Divisional VP to create and lead the short and long-term product development and commercialization roadmap for a portfolio of translational tissue analysis platforms, based on market intelligence and customer intimacy.
  • Product development activities will also include creating product requirements within Quanterix quality system to support eventual regulatory filings, working with internal functions and external partners to test end-to-end workflows, new instrument configurations, new reagent solutions, to arrive at an analytically robust solution for the translational research space.
  • Market cultivation will include working with early customers and important collaborators and partners to fully realize value of platform and work through any early imperfections, and to gain direct customer feedback to guide further development, providing content and perspective to marketing functions to create sales collateral, etc. to gain customer enthusiasm and stimulate word-of-mouth demand.
  • It is expected that as the team grows and specific functions are backfilled, this role will evolve into a product portfolio management role, to organize and manage commercialization. This will include helping to build a sales and field support team, creating and implementing go-to-market launch plans to drive market readiness and assuring product commercialization success and be accountable for product lifecycle management.
  • Specific functions related to portfolio management will also include maintaining a robust understanding of customer needs through regular, direct interaction with current and potential customers and thought leaders across all target segments and geographies
  • Developing and delivering product marketing training to global Marketing and Commercial teams
  • Together with Marketing, continuously monitor the competitive landscape, and translating learnings to the organization.
  • Analyzing market trends, customer requirements, competitive strategy, and identify opportunities for increasing customer and business value through product differentiation.
  • Representing Quanterix at scientific, medical, regulatory, business and other professional meetings.
  • Modelling and strengthening culture of high impact collaboration, working cross-functionally with Commercial, Marketing, and Product Development.

What We’ll Expect From You: 

  • Entrepreneurial drive to succeed – a high degree of self-motivation, with a proven track record for business expansion.
  • Exceptional skills for working with and supporting customers and collaboratively accomplishing product development related activities with internal stakeholders at Quanterix and suppliers and partners.
  • An advanced degree (MSc, PhD, or equivalent) in biological science/engineering/computer science/informatics/business.
  • ≥3 years of direct product management, applications or pre-sales scientific support experience in life sciences or medical device industry with domain expertise in spatial biology applications
  • Global perspective, with experience managing global product lifecycle management including launch and rationalization; experience with global launch and or regional launch of regulated products
  • Experience in advanced technologies and product development, with domain expertise and deep market familiarity in spatial biology platforms, image analysis software and approaches, slide staining technologies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, collaboration and negotiation skills, with proven ability to be assertive while building productive cross-functional relationships; experience managing multiple stakeholders and resolving conflict within teams.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to lead through influence across the organizational matrix.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Ability to work effectively, efficiently and independently in a fast-paced and dynamic innovation-oriented work environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 30%, both domestically and internationally
  • Background in pathology, quantitative immunofluorescence, oncology/immune-oncology and experience working in a clinical trial setting is preferred.
