PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep of the facilities They are skilled in a variety of areas including plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and electrical systems. Duties include inspecting buildings, maintaining facility items, minor repairs, Maintenance Technician - Facilities is in charge of performing ongoing facility maintenance and completing repairs on building and equipment. Their duties include fixing machinery, plumbing, heating and wiring, inspecting buildings to confirm safety standards and scheduling major repairs within the building. Addressing facility issues before they become major problems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintenance Technician – Facilities is responsible for keeping a facility operating and repairing any problems when they are discovered before they have a chance to worsen. Maintenance Technician will usually be required to perform a wide range of repair tasks around a facility. Some other tasks as maintenance may be called upon to do include:

  • Inspect buildings, equipment, and systems to identify any issues.
  • Repair faulty equipment units and damaged structures.
  • Manage heating and plumbing systems to guarantee functionality.
  • Repairing broken or leaking plumbing to avoid water damage and restore full use of water fixtures
  • Working on damaged electrical wiring when a shortage or severed wire occurs
  • Maintaining the building HVAC equipment in order to keep climate control in the facility functioning properly
  • Perform general maintenance tasks including maintenance around the building, (for example, window, door or wall repair) landscaping, painting, and carpentry.
  • Fixing potential safety hazards to avoid injuries
  • Be on call as needed to address emergency issues.
  • Ability to deal with unresolved situations, frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  • Able to start and persist with specific courses of action while exhibiting high motivation and a sense of urgency
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Certificate in HVAC or strong electrical background is preferred.
  • A minimum of 1-year experience in a similar role.
  • Advanced understanding of general maintenance procedures and techniques.
  • Physically capable and available to work overtime including weekends, public holidays, and evenings.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Must be well organized and have the ability to prioritize tasks.
