RN - Med Surg/Tele We're looking for RNs for an immediate travel nurse opening. The right RN should have 2 years or more of recent experience. As a Travel Nurse, you should be prepared to perform the following tasks: Provide basic bedside care. Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients. Initiate corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology! Able to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean and stoop without difficulty. Able to easily lift 20 pounds. Moving or lifting of patients may require lifting of up to 50 pounds at times. This is a high acuity, fast-paced unit that requires teamwork and strong communication skills. First Time Travelers Accepted. Travelers will be expected to float. Please come help us build a better kind of agency! **Job Description** Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry Shifts: 3x12 Rotating (12-hour shifts) Unit: Telemetry - WC-Surgical/Neuro 4th Floor Cost Center: 617010 Number of Beds: 48 (two units 4A and 4B) Patient Ratios: 1:5 Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Common Diagnosis/Types of Patients: COVID, respiratory, gastrointestinal, diabetics, tele, TIA, CVA, general, orthopedic, and spinal surgical patients Experience/Skills Required: - Reading basic telemetry strips - Experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients, CVA, and TIA - Cerner experience recommended (one-day orientation) Titration of Drips: RNs are not required to titrate drips Common Titratable/Set Rate Drips: Diltiazem at a set rate Tele/Monitor Technicians: RNs read strips, tele is monitored remotely, and tele techs are on the 3rd floor. Monitor techs read and post strips. RNs are required to interpret strips and sign at least once a shift. Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Both. Charge nurse does not take a patient assignment. Nurse Aides: Yes, with a ratio of 1:10-15 Respiratory Therapy/Equipment: Bipap, Cpap, high flow, and some breathing treatments Shifts & Scheduling: - 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch - Schedules made for 4 weeks - Self-scheduling used but subject to manager approval Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week schedule Holiday Requirement: Work 2 days and 1 evening or 2 evenings and a day for Christmas, New Year's, and Thanksgiving (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day) Call or Standby Requirement: None Floating Requirements: May float to East Campus and possibly PCU if qualified Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs Unit/Department Specific Orientation: 1 shift of orientation on the unit Cancellation Policy: 3 shifts per 13-week contract Charting System: CERNER BSN Required: No License to Submit: No Trauma Level: [Not specified] Care Setting: Acute Division: Nursing Shift Notes: Every other weekend, holiday rotation, days, bedside shift report, and hourly rounds are required.
