JOB SUMMARY:

SkyeTec Engineering Services is currently looking for driven, confident and hardworking team members to fill the position of Residential Inspector. In this role, you will conduct inspections of building construction projects to confirm compliance with Building Codes and other regulatory requirements. The work involves reviewing building plans and other documents; the interpretation and application of codes and regulations; and performing visual inspections required by law for each phase of construction to determine compliance with applicable codes. Additionally, the Inspector is responsible for documenting observed conditions and completing inspection reports. This is a field position and travel within the assigned area is required for inspections and/or managing projects.

Prospective applicants must be able to read blueprints, understand construction methods, be self-driven, be able to work independently, be able to work on multiple projects concurrently, and produce accurate results while meeting deadlines!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Inspects buildings for compliance with the Florida Building Code and all other related regulations as required
• Recognizes, evaluates, and properly resolves unique problems or situations
• Meets with design professionals, contractors, and other interested parties to discuss technical code issues which arise
• Coordinate with Project Coordinator team to update inspection status and for timely completion; and inform Project Coordinator team and clients of pass/fail inspection results
• Prepare and maintain all required records and reports
• Work with Project Coordinator team and clients to establish daily inspection schedules based on inspection types, locality, and priority
• Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with municipal Building Departments, and clients
• Escalate client concerns to immediate supervisor for prompt resolution

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Detail oriented

• Good understanding of construction materials and methods including building framing, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems

• Current driver’s license; clean driving record
• Ability and willingness to travel
• Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Florida Residential Standard Inspector license required
• Residential Plans Examiner license a plus
• High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is required
• 4 years minimum of construction related experience is required
• Possess OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification or the ability to obtain within 3 months of hire

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40.86 - $48.07 per hour
