Qualdoc is Hiring a CNC Machinist Near Richmond, VA

Position: CNC Machinist

Location: Richmond, VA

Duration: Possibly contract to hire or direct hire (Dependent on Experience)

Pay: Up to $30.00 per hour ( $3.00 shift differential)

Shift: 2nd Shift (1:00 PM - 9:30 PM, Monday to Friday)

Benefits/Incentives: Provided Insurance (Medical, Dental, Vision, etc.)

For the first 3 - 6 months, this role will involve training during the 1st shift schedule, typically from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.

This position will involve:

  • Mastering Precision: Operating CNC machines with precision to create accurate parts.
  • Technical Proficiency: Competence in programming and machine setup to optimize performance.
  • Commitment to Quality: Ensuring strict adherence to quality and safety standards for flawless products.
  • Meticulous Record-Keeping: Maintaining accurate production records.
  • Equipment Stewardship: Managing equipment maintenance for smooth operations.
  • Passion for Excellence: Striving for excellence in all machining operations.
Responsibilities:
  • Interpreting work orders, blueprints, and specifications for machining operations planning.
  • Programming and setting up mills and lathes, and loading feed mechanisms.
  • Verifying settings and maintaining specifications through precise measurement.
  • Troubleshooting malfunctions and ensuring safe operations.
  • Enhancing job knowledge through education and training.
Requirements:
  • CNC Certification required; programming skills preferred.
  • Strong manufacturing background necessary.
  • Experience with various machinery preferred, such as Haas, South Bend Lathe, Okuma Howa, etc.
  • Strong conceptual skills and process improvement abilities.
  • Effective verbal communication and technical expertise essential.
  • Familiarity with controls, instrumentation, and tooling needed.
  • Attention to detail and good judgment crucial.
Manufacturing Environment Overview:
  • Mostly indoors (Approx. 95%).
  • Heated facility in winter; no air-conditioning in summer.
  • Standing on concrete floors for at least eight hours.
  • Tasks may involve kneeling, squatting, bending, and prolonged standing.
  • Occasional loud noise, especially during grinding or machine testing.
Tool Requirements:
  • Own basic tools required.
  • Team-provided tools include wrench sets, screwdrivers, pliers, etc.
  • Metric tool sets recommended.
  • Lockable toolbox suggested.
  • Mandatory safety gear: safety glasses and steel-toed shoes.
  • Attire: Long pants and sleeved shirt (short sleeve minimum) required.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Background check (7-year felony sex offender registry check).
  • Drug test (5-panel lab test for recreational drugs & opiates).
