Pharmacy Fulfillment Technician II

Full Time - AM Shift - West Chester, Pa

The Pharmacy Technician Level II (Tech II) position provides support to the Production Shift Supervisor(s), assisting in oversight of workflow and automated systems. The Tech II position reports any problems associated with Pharmacy Technology, including: Beacon, ATP, Inspect Rx, Simple Access, and Shipping Software. The Tech II position maintains consistent communication with management and other departments, while ensuring accuracy when filling prescriptions. The Tech II position aids in coverage of the Production Shift Supervisor during weekends, PTO, holidays, or other needs. Additionally, the Tech II has an active role in pharmacy compliance and works directly with the QA Director.

The Tech II position reports directly to Pharmacy Operations Manager. This position works in a shared services environment, which includes customer service, order entry, and pharmacists. This position works with team members and management in Pharmacy Operations, Medical Records, Consultant Pharmacists, Consultant Nurses, Billing, and Inventory. This position also works with the management team. This position also works with nurses, doctors and patients in the facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership for workflow and automated systems while working to expand and optimiz­e the role of fulfillment technicians in regard to the pharmacy packaging and logistics process.
  • Responsible for launches/run times. Monitors and maintains launch schedule to ensure on-time departure facilitated through workflow management software systems
  • Performs duties related to focus area as assigned, and if fully accountable to this area.
  • Triages issues presented during shift to ensure safe and effective delivery of medications.
  • Serves as a support contact for automation and technical issues and reports to Production Shift Supervisor. Immediately addresses any issues to support/TCG to ensure Pharmacy Technology is running as required.
  • Assist Operations Manager with duties or projects supporting continuous improvement; with emphasis on pharmacy compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of changes in medication delivery systems to provide accurate and timely service to customers.
  • Ensures medication preparation is coordinated, controlled within designated areas and documented in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations, and pharmacy policies.
  • Continually optimizes the use of technological systems including, but not limited to ATP, Beacon, InspectRx, Simple Access to improve quality, effectiveness, and efficiency in distributing medications to our customers.
  • Participates as a fulfillment technician and is accountable for own work responsibilities.
  • Performs medication packaging, toting and other duties when staffing requires.
  • Ensures timely completion of maintenance logs and policy documentation.
  • Enhances professional and technical knowledge through seminars and other resources.
  • Maintains consistent communication with Operations Manager regarding area specific initiatives and activities.
  • Positive, professional demeanor is projected through verbal and non-verbal communications.
  • Reports any interpersonal conflicts to Production Shift Supervisor.
  • Diverse perspectives are acknowledged; language and behaviors are modeled that build inclusiveness in the work environment.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities.

Qualifications

This position requires a High School Diploma with a Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred. Minimum of one year of experience in a pharmacy. Knowledge of pharmacy automation and computers, proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook. Professional demeanor and ability to guide fulfillment technicians through workflow. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with excellent communication and teamwork.
