Qdoba Restaurants and Modern Market Eatery is Hiring a Director, Communications Near San Diego, CA

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Director of Communications to join our Qdoba team. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned communications professional with a proven track record of developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies within franchised organizations. As the Director of Communications, you will play a crucial role in shaping and maintaining the public image of Qdoba, ensuring effective internal and external communication, and driving engagement with key stakeholders.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build Qdoba’s multi-channel communications strategy aligned with our organizational goals.
  • Leads and manages Qdoba Public Relations agency partner.
  • Identify key messages and communication channels to grow brand visibility and reputation.
  • Develops and manages Qdoba’s editorial calendar aligning various organizational and department communication needs.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, reporters, and key influencers.
  • Act as a brand spokesperson for the organization and manage media inquiries effectively.
  • Develop and execute brand community relations efforts building key relationships with community leaders and stakeholders to develop greater awareness for the Qdoba brand and our values.
  • Leads Qdoba internal communications initiatives to ensure consistent messaging across all levels of the organization.
  • Leads executive media training including the development of written briefs and taking points for media interview and speaking opportunities.
  • Leads both proactive and reactive crisis communication efforts supporting leadership and franchisees in responding to urgent issues while protecting Qdoba’s reputation. Acts as a key decision-maker during crisis situations, providing timely and accurate information.
  • Provides strategic guidance to social media team on influencer programs ensuring they align with Qdoba’s brand values, credibly engages consumers, and maximizes campaign effectiveness.
  • Develops key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of communication efforts and provides regular reporting on Qdoba communication initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field. MBA or related master’s degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 8 years of management experience in communications and/or public relations with a track record of successful strategic planning and execution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • A self-starter that can thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience overseeing crisis communication.
  • Experience working in a highly franchised restaurant organization is highly desired.

Pay Range: $165,000-$195,000
