Qahwah House is Hiring a Corporate Controller Near Dearborn, MI
The Controller of Accounting at Qahwah House will hold complete accountability for all accounting functions within the organization. This role will serve as a strategic partner, providing specialized accounting expertise to the business. The Controller of Accounting will be responsible for overseeing controllership duties, directing accounting operations, leading the implementation of a new ERP system (NetSuite), and establishing management reporting in a rapidly expanding company. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in managing accounting functions for a significant retail enterprise/franchise.
Key Responsibilities:
-Supervise all monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings, account reconciliations, accrual bookings, and the creation/review of journal entries.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation/submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Demonstrate proficiency in managing external audit processes, monthly close and reporting cycles, as well as reporting and compliance.
- Lead successful financial statement audits and ensure the accuracy of tax and financial reports.
- Drive the implementation of the new ERP system and review all journal entries.
- Manage the accounting team, related systems, and refine operational procedures.
- Oversee, lead, and mentor accounting team members, offering technical accounting guidance to the business leadership team.
- Complete the reconciliation of the various group bank accounts in a timely manner throughout the month and at month end.
- Manage and monitor the daily cash flow transactions to ensure timely collections; maintain funds availability for long term business needs.
- Collaborate with the cross functional teams to establish strong compliance infrastructure.
- Supervise both the accounting team and external accounting firms.
- Take the lead in preparing any necessary special initiatives and analyses.
- Review current processes and recommend/implement improvement activities to enhance process efficiency.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role.
- At least 3 years of substantial accounting experience as a Controller in a sizable company.
- Preference for experience in Big 4 public accounting firms.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with a preference for a degree in accounting.
- CPA certification is highly desirable.
- Experience with NetSuite ERP is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated strong collaboration skills with diverse, cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently, possess a curious mindset, and exhibit self-starting qualities.
- Must be able to report to HQ, located in Dearborn, MI.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
