Assists in providing staffing of both registration and rooming for several visiting outpatient clinics & providers. This includes being trained and educated in up to five EMRs and working directly with a variety of specialties & providers. Although hired as an MA, each clinical position in the Specialty Clinics will be trained to be able to fulfill a variety of job duties which include front office, back office, registration, and referrals. Each day is ever changing for our staff and we work together as a team to assure that all patient needs are met for each different specialty that hosts clinic in our office.
The chosen applicant will work 3-4 days per week during the hours of 8am - 4pm, depending on the clinic need and/or training processes.
Welcomes patients and visitors to the medical office by greeting patients and visitors in person and on the telephone and answering inquiries or referring questions to other staff members |
Collects vitals, weight, and patient information and completes any intial testing in preparation for provider |
Completes medication reconciliation |
Orders any testing or labs requested by provider |
Completes all Prior Authorizations for tests ordered |
Efficiently conducts check-in, check-out, and rescheduling procedures |
Prepares charts/clinics - obtains external patient information and adds to chart for specialty provider |
Answers, triages, and appropriately routes incoming calls |
Explains office policies, insurance coverage, and services available to patients |
Accurately enters all patient demographic, billing, and insurance information in the appropriate electronic medical record |
Schedules appointments for the physicians and physician assistant to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time and most effective use of examining and treatment rooms. Prepares a daily schedule of examinations for each provider |
Completes all referrals to other specialties, including needed requirements to do so |
Efficient performs EKG & A1C testing on all patients who provider requests |
Knows how to operate and smoothly work within up to five EMR systems, specialty dependent |
Can work both clinical & clerical roles with other visiting providers, currently including: Endocrinology/Diabetes, ENT/Otolaryngology, Neurology, Vascular & Cardiology |
Performs other duties as assigned |
