The marketing and public relations administrator is responsible for creating and implementing strategic marketing and communications plans for the Department of Computer Science that addresses key stakeholders including faculty, staff, alumni, prospective students, current students, funding agencies, research collaborators, and the public. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and create communication content through articles, e-newsletters, reports, press releases, speeches, social media, and other mediums.
Duties Include:
Create and manage departmental publicity, includes writing press releases and news stories, and creating graphics. Collaborate with faculty and other content matter experts as needed to create stories that describe scientific and technical achievements in ways accessible to the general public. Create content from various internal sources such as technical reports and publication drafts. Communicate appropriate departmental news stories to College of Science and University media offices for press releases and other external publicity.
Define and manage the departmental social media presence, including the creation of news items and media campaigns through building displays, departmental kiosk, video wall, and other outlets. Contribute to the design and updating of the departmental website. Ensure all communication is in line with Purdue University’s master brand.
