Punxsutawney Hometown Market is Hiring a Frozen Department Clerk Near Punxsutawney, PA

Purpose of this Job:

Maintain highest quality of frozen products for the customers and oversee all aspects the frozen grocery department on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

Essential Functions:

Responsible to ensure daily inspections of frozen department are completed including performance of blocking the department at beginning and end of each shift.
Responsible for all frozen products being fresh and readily available in displays and will rotate product and examining codes per Hometown Market policy and all safety standards.
Responsible for date maintenance, rotating product with each new delivery and has authority to mark down close-to-date items at direction of management.
Oversees the inventory and stock levels of all frozen products, with special attention paid to high demand items to ensure customer satisfaction.
Responsible for preparation of frozen product orders and ensuring that all deliveries are shelved prior to end of shift.
Responsible for cross checking invoices and delivery bills of laden to ensure accuracy of delivery.
Responsible for returning bills to the warehouse after delivery is received.
Must be able to deal with difficult and or angry customers in a calm and professional manner.
Oversee the maintenance of a clean and orderly department at all times.
Complies with all federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
All other duties as assigned.

Equipment used in the Job:

Bar code reader, point of service scanner, dollies, carts, U-boats, and general store software.

Educational Requirements:

Minimum of a high school education or General Equivalency Diploma preferred.

Experience Requirements:

Minimum one year experience working in a frozen grocery department or in a leadership position in the grocery industry in come capacity.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to plan out daily responsibilities.

Ability to identify discrepancies or potential problems.

Ability to identify potential safety and or health hazards and understand precautions to prevent health and safety issues.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, labels, pricing structures, and recipes.

Ability to follow written and verbal directions.

Ability to talk to others (internal customers/coworkers and external customers) to convey information effectively and professionally.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Concentration, attentiveness, independent judgment and discretion, manage multiple tasks, read and comprehend instructions and work orders. Must have great attention to details. Must be able to see, hear, bend, stoop and reach, and stand for long periods of time, use hands, lift up to 50 pounds manually.

Work Environment:

Standing for entire shift, minus breaks and meal periods. Exposed to changes in temperature while working in the freezer and coolers. Has the potential to be exposed to various degrees in temperature while working in various areas of the market, including dock, stockroom, coolers, freezers, and front area of the store.

Other Considerations:

Must be able to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with internal and external customers.

Must be service oriented, looking for ways to assist people.

Ability to understand principles and processes for providing customer and personal services; including needs assessment, meeting quality standards for service, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
