Prior Authorization Specialist

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Prior Authorization Specialist to join our esteemed medical office team. As a vital member of our team, you will play a crucial role in facilitating authorizations and referrals for various medical services. This includes meticulously reviewing patient medical histories, verifying information provided by their physicians, confirming insurance coverage, and ensuring all necessary authorizations are obtained prior to proceeding with requested services.

Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently complete authorizations and referrals for a range of medical services, including but not limited to testing, office visits, and procedures.
  • Thoroughly review patient medical histories and insurance coverage to ascertain approval eligibility.
  • Liaise with ordering provider to obtain any additional information required.
  • Monitor scheduling to preempt potential conflicts and issues.
  • Provide support with additional clerical tasks as required.

Requirements:

  • While preference will be given to candidates with an associate degree or certification in medical coding or a related field, we welcome applications from individuals with substantial experience in medical billing and/or insurance authorization.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in Testing and/or Procedure Prior Authorization is mandatory.
  • Proficient understanding of medical terminology, ICD-10, and CPT codes.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with insurance payer prior authorization portals.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Availability to work in a designated quiet space with a door, ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations.

Compensation:

  • Competitive pay scale ranging from $20 to $25 per hour, with compensation tailored to experience level.

Job Type/Schedule:

  • Full-time position, Monday through Friday, with standard hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
