POSITION TITLE:HOMEBOUND TEACHER/SPECIAL SERVICES TEACHER
QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Arkansas Teaching Certificate in Special Education. K-12 Special Education
Certification preferred.
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education
JOB GOAL: To ensure that eligible students with disabilities receive a free and appropriate
public education (FAPE)
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides instruction to eligible students with disabilities under IDEA, in accordance with their Individualized Education Program (IEP), who have been placed in homebound services due to physical injury, chronic or long-term illness, or as a result of a disciplinary action following appropriate due process.
2. Assists with due process conferences and associated paperwork for students with
disabilities under the IDEA.
3. Notifies a homebound student’s school and secures his/her classwork/assignments
on a regular basis.
4. Provides the student’s completed assignments to the school.
5. Ensures the provision of FAPE to a homebound student with regard to his/her general
education curriculum and special education services set out in the student’s IEP.
6. Completes all homebound instruction forms and returns them to the appropriate
personnel within the designated timelines.
7. Works directly with the Teacher of Record, Special Education Coordinator, and Director
of Special Education to ensure services are provided to students with disabilities in
accordance with his/her IEPs.
8. Assist schools with onsite instructional support to teachers and schools with
implementation of inclusive practices in schools aligned with DESE’s New Direction.
9. Is knowledgeable about the district’s School Board policies, district Desegregation
Plan, and district/ school guidelines/regulations and adheres to the same.
10. Assists with district and statewide assessment administration
upon request and schedule availability.
11. Assists with due process upon assignment.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary Range: Teacher Salary Schedule (Placement depends on education and experience.)
Length of Contract:195 contract days (Allocations for this position would be contingent
each year based on the revenue received for state/federal categorical funds and/or
overall program needs.)

Performance of this job will be evaluated according to provisions of the Board's policy on
Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
