Greater Green Bay - Pulaski

Job Description: To work in a collaborative effort to provide additional support and services for students in grades EC-12. The school district social worker will assist in supporting social, emotional and environmental factors affecting student’s education. This individual will serve as a resource and liaison between families, school and community agencies to meet the needs of students. This position will have a strong focus on supporting students with mental health needs.
Qualifications:
  • Valid WI Department of Public Instruction School Social Worker (7050) license, or ability to obtain license upon hire required Early Childhood-Adolescence or Pre-kindergarten-Grade 12
  • Demonstrated ability to:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with building staff to establish and maintain a positive mental health and behavioral culture in the school.

  • Communicate effectively with families, particularly as related to challenging student circumstances and issues.
  • Participate in a professional learning community; provide in-service training for other staff as appropriate.
  • Work closely with grade level, student services, and leadership teams in using data to plan interventions, programming, and advancing support for students and families.
  • Coordinate AODA prevention efforts.
  • Collaborate with school improvement teams.
  • Facilitate/participate in structured problem solving processes.
  • Design and implement effective interventions for students, including consulting with and training of staff on monitoring fidelity of implementation.
  • Serve on the school and district crisis response team.
  • Consult/collaborate with outside providers (medical professionals, therapists, etc.) on student needs.
  • Connect students/families with outside resources (county, community, etc.) as appropriate.
  • Coordinate and lead Restorative Practices.


Other Duties:

  • Provide in-service training to school personnel and maintain records pertaining to child abuse and neglect within each school.

  • Provide social work services as a member of the IEP team when needed.
  • Collaborate with school administration regarding student attendance.
  • Provide direct services to children and parents, and liaison services between school, home and the community.
  • Transmits referrals and school reports to legal agencies concerning truancy- work in a collaborative manner with SRO and municipalities.
  • Direct services to children and parents by
    • Providing social casework services to children and parents, assisting in finding solutions to problems that interfere with learning and school adjustment.
    • Collaborating with the casework process through psychosocial study, diagnosis, formulation and implementation of treatment plans.
    • Providing group work services to children and parents, a form of treatment based on principles of group process.
    • Liaison services between home, school and community.
    • Visiting parents in the home to share information related to educational concerns.
    • Maintaining communication with legal, medical and social agencies regarding school-related problems.
    • Reports and Record requirements include:
      • Preparing written reports to the school in response to referrals.
      • Maintaining student case records related to social work services.
      • Preparing statistics and reports as required by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and the Division of Special Services.
      • Mental Health Coordination with School Based Mental Health Goals working to ensure the specific goals are implemented and supported.
      • Data collection of grant information and update DPI on status
      • Planning and Implementation of Preventive Strategies Homelessness and McKinney Vento support.
      • Performs other related duties as assigned.
