The primary responsibility of the STEAM Teacher is to provide support to the instructional process by developing ESS students' success in academics, interpersonal skills, and activities of daily learning; Performs instructional and related duties in accordance with District policies and terms of the teacher contract. The Teacher also maintains a cooperative attitude with staff, parents, and students.
QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Valid Colorado Teaching License within 60 days from date of hire
  • Elementary Education Endorsement or Teacher must be highly qualified in applicable content area through the following options:
    • Endorsement on a Colorado teaching license
    • Passing score on a State Board of Education approved content exam (currently the ETS Praxis Series)
  • Employee must complete a fingerprint-based criminal background check and must be cleared by the Office of Human Resources
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary
  • Support Innovation Zone Purpose, Vision, and Mission as well as the innovation components of the schools to which they apply (e.g.- STEM, AVID, Blended Learning, PLTW, etc.)
** Teachers hired in a K-3 or Reading Interventionist position must be willing to register for the READ Act training that is required per Senate Bill 199-99. The teacher must show evidence that they are enrolled and progressing in a CDE-approved training course and completed within the 2023-2024 school year or provide a certificate of completion for the program**

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Elementary Endorsement with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) experience
  • Experience implementing effective instruction as demonstrated by evaluations
  • Successful experience in implementing strong classroom routines and procedures demonstrated by references and evaluations
  • Experience with STEAM based educational philosophy and instructional practices
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Project Lead the Way Curriculum
  • Knowledge and/or experience with Project Based Learning
  • Knowledge and/or experience in STEAM integration of non-STEAM content
  • Belief that all students can be successful in STEAM classes
  • 3-5 years successful teaching as demonstrated by references, evaluations and student growth data
  • Experience implementing effective literacy instruction including foundational skills and comprehension strategies
  • Experience using Common Core State standards to plan instruction.
  • Experience with a blended learning model or a desire to learn
  • Experience with AVID implementation or a desire to learn
  • Experience in a Title I setting
  • Experience with Teach Like A Champion Strategies
  • Successful experience implementing strong classroom routines and procedures demonstrated by references and evaluations
  • Experience with STEM based educational philosophy and instructional practices.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:?
  • Establish clear classroom routines and procedures that create a positive student-centered learning environment
  • Responsible for educating K-5 students about STEAM through instruction, demonstrations, and hands-on activities
  • Support students in the development and implementation of Project Based Learning
  • Support K-5 classroom instruction through STEAM lessons
  • Implement evidenced-based instructional practices that build student knowledge and skills across a variety of content areas
  • Actively engage in professional development activities to continuously improve practices
