Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools is comprised of a non-profit network of public charter schools designed to significantly increase high school graduation rates, college entrance, and college graduation rates for underserved students in North-East Los Angeles, and the North-East San Fernando Valley.
Our mission at PUC Schools is to develop and manage high-quality charter schools in densely populated urban communities with overcrowded and low-achieving schools. The Team Member we are searching for
The ideal School Psychologist believes in and is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC Schools and exhibits this through their leadership, reflection, execution of school culture, and collaboration to ensure student success. Under the direction of the Director of Inclusion and Special Education, this team member will assess, interpret, consult, and direct intervention for students, as well as apply ethics and standard of professional practice in the delivery of school psychological services and observe relevant laws and policies that govern practice.

What you will need to accomplish:
Assessment and Interpretation

• Identify and assess the learning, development, and adjustment characteristics and needs of individuals and groups, as well as the environmental factors that affect learning and adjustment; Use assessment data about the student and his/her environment(s) in developing appropriate interventions and programs
• Conduct psycho-education evaluations that analyze the learning characteristics, educational needs, and social behavior relevant to the educational placement and instructional planning; This includes: in-class observations of student’s behavior and learning styles, informal observations at recess or lunch, psychometric testing, collection of relevant medical and social histories, and interviews with parents, teachers, students, and other relevant individuals
• Interpret the resulting data to determine the presence of a learning disability or social/ emotional need, which may indicate a need for special education services
• Provide psycho-educational reports that analyze, interpret, and summarize the information collected, and then present the report at the scheduled IEP

Consultation

• Provide support to parents in need of guidance related to their child’s educational experience and social/emotional well-being
• Provide consultation to parents, teachers, other school personnel, and community agencies to enhance the learning and adjustment of students
• Participate in (at minimum) monthly collaboration and consultation with other members of the PUC Special Education Support Team

Direct Interventions for Students

• Provide interventions to students to support the teaching process and to maximize learning and adjustment

Professional Practice and Development

• Apply ethics and standards of professional practice in the delivery of school psychological services and observes relevant laws and policies that govern practice; Participate in professional organizations and continually seek to improve professional knowledge and skills

Communication and Relationship Skills

• Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and the PUC Special Education Support Team
• Regularly update compliance materials and Dashboard
• Perform other duties as assigned

What do we require from you?
Minimum Qualifications
Education:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, related field, or equivalent training and experience required
• Master’s degree or higher preferred
• Possession of a valid Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPS) with authorization as a school psychologist, or Basic Pupil Personnel Services Credential with authorization in School Psychology, or Standard Designated Services credential with authorization as a school psychologist

Experience:

• 3 years of experience providing therapy to children and adolescents

Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of diversity in society, including diverse abilities, culture, language, ethnicity, and gender orientation
• Proficient with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Alignment with core characteristics required of every PUC employee: the pursuit of excellence, innovation, community, tenacity, and authenticity
• Must be flexible and team-oriented
• Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred
• Strong work ethic, accountability, and ownership of work
• Regular attendance, dependability, and punctuality in conformance with the standards are essential to the successful performance of this position

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Occasionally required to kneel, climb and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level, lift up to 30 pounds. To bend, sit, stand, squat, stoop, walk, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms at shoulder level or below. Always required to wear the appropriate safety equipment for the task, which may include gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, etc.

Pay: $87,740.00 - $95,906.00 per year
