IC Imagine Public Charter School is Hiring a Lower School Exceptional Children's Instructional Assistant Near Asheville, NC

Dedicated, self-motivated full-time Exceptional Children's Instructional Assistant needed at IC Imagine Charter School in Asheville, NC. Modified, year-round school schedule. Pay is based on the school Salary Schedule.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Must maintain positive and consistent communication with students and teachers related to academics, behavior, and attendance of students
  • Work cohesively in a team setting
  • Ability to work one-on-one with students, as needed
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and other support staff
  • Utilize a positive reinforcement behavioral system
  • Assist classroom teacher in performing specific duties as assigned or undertaking specialized tasks to achieve and enhance instructional and behavioral objectives
  • Work with individuals, small groups, or large groups, as assigned
  • Assist with behavior modification, as assigned
  • Escort students, as assigned
  • Monitor students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment
  • Provide programmed practice activities and repetitions, as developed by teacher, therapist or pathologist.
  • Report student concerns directly and expeditiously to the teacher and assist with student resolution.
  • Assist students with breakfast, lunch, snack, including clean-up.
  • Assist students with basic daily living skills.
  • Maintain various records and files.
  • Follow the processes laid out in the employee handbook, respond to emails in a timely manner, and ensure timely feedback is given
  • Perform related work as required.
  • Other duties may be assigned
Skills and Abilities:
  • Self-motivated
  • Skilled in problem solving and decision making as well as observation, listening, and coaching
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Maintain effective working relationships
  • Possess strong time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload and multitask in a busy environment
  • Proficiency with GSuite
Education and Experience:
  • Minimum High School Diploma
  • 1 year of experience working with students in a school setting, preferred
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, squatting, reaching and bending
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 65 pounds at times
