Turning Points for Children is one of the largest social service agencies in Philadelphia, supporting the needs of more than 10,000 adults and children throughout the city. We offer programs that help families raise safe, healthy, educated, and strong children. We partner with caregivers to develop and strengthen protective qualities and offer them the tools, skills, and resources needed to ensure their children's optimal development.

Position Summary:

Program: ELECT (Education Leading to Employment and Career Training)

The Case Manager is responsible for the provision of case management and a broad array of academic and social services to eligible ELECT program participants (expectant and parenting young adults) to help them stay in school, graduate, navigate healthy parenting, successfully transition to employment/post-secondary education, and achieve overall self-sufficiency. The ELECT program always works to connect students to educational and cultural activities that promote students' understanding of child development, encourage, nurturing parenting practices, and expose students to experiences that help them and their children grow and thrive.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the ELECT Supervisor, the Case Manager will:

  • Maintain a caseload of up to 25 students and work with the students directly in their schools, homes, or communities on a weekly basis.
  • Retrieve, maintain, and upload required documentation for student enrollment in the program. Maintain thorough student records throughout the duration of each student's enrollment.
  • Adhere to data requirements and ensure that case notes and other data (attendance, transition services, summer component, educational/service hours, etc.) are submitted timely and accurately. Attend data management training and serve as a backup data coordinator.
  • Ensure that student requirements, goals, and outcomes are documented and attained as indicated in the ELECT program guidelines.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with partner schools. Work with schools to support student recruitment and retention, support resource coordination, attain records, and ensure that students can thrive at home, school, and work (when applicable).
  • Assist with the development of outreach materials and marketing strategies that support the recruitment and retention of eligible students. Ensure that all students are invited to Wednesday workshops and cultural activities.
  • Attend ELECT team meetings, department meetings, and required training activities including local and state conferences. Stay informed on research and best practices to support and engage expectant and parenting teens/young adults. Be punctual for all meetings.
  • Support undergraduate and graduate student interns. Engage in orientation, training, peer site visits, etc.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience working with expectant and parenting youth and families
  • Current PA child abuse clearance, PA criminal history clearance, and FBI clearance

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience working with expectant and parenting youth and families
  • Knowledge of human development with a focus on children and adolescents, child development, assessment, and clinical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in using a personal computer including Word, Outlook, and the internet
  • Current PA child abuse clearance, PA criminal history clearance, and FBI clearance

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

This position is classified as salaried non-exempt in accordance with FLSA standards.
