Public Facilities Management is Hiring a Painter, Corrections Near Columbus, OH

Classification Purpose:

The primary purpose of the Painter classification is to paint, stain and/or varnish interior and exterior surfaces of county buildings and facilities.

Job Duties:

Prepare work area and surfaces for painting, finishing or wall covering. Mask/tape areas for painting and cover floors and furniture with drop cloths. Repair surfaces by scraping, patching, plastering, sanding and filling cracks and holes. Use rollers, brushes and/or electronic painting tools to stain and varnish walls, stairwells, fixtures, furniture, curbs, exterior surfaces, doors, posts and floors. Utilize lift equipment to reach high surfaces. Mix paints and select colors to match existing surface or décor. Paint decorative stencils. Move furniture, clean, and reset work area when work has been completed. Operate stripping machine to paint lines in parking garages/lots. Prepare and enter record of jobs that have been completed in the work order system. Order and/or inventory paint, tools, materials, and supplies. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. These duties are illustrative only and you may perform some or all of these duties or other job-related duties as assigned.

Major Worker Characteristics:

Knowledge of inventory control; safety practices; agency policy and procedures. Skill in skilled trade; equipment operation. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in familiar context; define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions apply principles to solve practical, everyday problems; add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers; calculate fractions, decimals and percentages; recognize safety warnings; cooperate with co-workers on group projects; demonstrate physical fitness; demonstrate strength to lift up to 75 lbs.

Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment:

High School diploma or GED, with three (3) years of commercial painting experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Additional Requirements:

Must maintain a valid Ohio driver’s license.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None required.

Unusual Working Conditions:

May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) to perform duties.

This office observes COVID-19 protocols.
