Responsibilities

Overall Responsibilities:

Public Consulting Group, Inc. (PCG) currently seeks a highly motivated and dependable Interpreter to perform the day-to-day operations involved in our San Diego, California, CalWORKs Welfare-to-Work/Refugee employment services operation. This individual will be responsible for providing interpretation services to our customers. This individual may also complete county paperwork, utilize the CalWIN database for data entry and reporting task in addition to administrative duties. This role is ideal for an administrative professional with excellent attention to detail, interpersonal and customer service skills.

San Diego County Residence is Required.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for listening to, understanding, and translating spoken or written statements from other language as needed.
  • Facilitate effective communication between two parties that do not speak a similar language by converting one spoken or written language to another.
  • Attend customer appointments and meetings and act as official translator to mediate discussion.
  • Translate between English and other language as identified.
  • Complete necessary county paper documents and forms with required data or information.
  • Compile, copy, sort, and file data activity records.
  • Ensure standard operating procedures for the project are implemented and maintained.
  • Obtain contract performance expectations and adhere to stringent federal, state, county, and company compliance objectives.
  • Ensure customers/participants receive quality and timely services.
  • Communicate in a timely and concise way with community and county partners, including preparing regular status reports.
  • Maintain communication with employment organizations and educational programs where CalWORKs participants are located.
  • Seek feedback and direction from direct supervisor.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Ability to translate a question or request clearly and accurately, conveying phrasing and intention as it relates to the subject.
  • Convert dialogue and convey the intent of the original speaker, understanding that many idioms and slang terms do not translate exactly between languages.
  • Ability to manage and report significant amounts of data.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure.
  • Familiarity with scanning and general office equipment.
  • Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Orientation toward team-based approaches.

  • Ability to maintain a record keeping and follow-up system.

San Diego County Residence is Required.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma required, preferably Associates or Bachelor’s degree
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience in managing data including data entry and analysis; 0-2 years of administrative experience; as well as 0-2 years relevant experience in customer service.
  • Previous experience with multicultural staff and customers is a plus
  • Previous knowledge in employment readiness services is not necessary but desired.

Compensation

Compensation for roles at Public Consulting Group varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, PCG provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role: $19.00 - $22.00 HR. In addition, PCG provides a range of benefits for this role.
