Responsibilities

High-Fidelity Wraparound (HFW) is a highly structured, team-based collaborative model with a single accountable care coordinator that adheres to the fidelity of the model, convenes families, providers, family and youth partners, and key members of the family’s social support network to build an individualized plan of care that incorporates formal and informal services and supports to meet the unique needs of the youth and their family.

The goal of the Maine Center of Excellence (COE) for Innovative Systems and Practice in Behavioral Health is to increase the capacity and quality of HFW provided throughout the State of Maine.

As part of this effort, the COE is developing the expertise and capacity to support Family and Youth Peer Support. Public Consulting Group serves as the Provider for the COE and is seeking to fill the position of Family Peer Support Specialist Local Coach.

The Family Peer Support Local Coach (FPS-LC) is a member of a team of professionals that support and educate family peer support specialists in the local provider community.

The FPS-LC will train and coach family peer support specialists (FPSs) to provide intentional, authentic support to parents or primary caregivers of children with emotional, physical, behavioral, and / or mental health challenges, aiding them in their journey toward self-advocacy in the attainment of their own, culturally specific life goals for themselves and their children.

  • Complete PEARLS Model initial certification, maintain certification and attend ongoing training within required timeframes.
  • Complete train-the-trainer training and participate in an annual National Coach Certification renewal.
  • Facilitate training and ongoing professional development sessions for Family Peer Support Specialists in the local provider community.
  • Respond to assigned requests for technical assistance and consultation in a timely manner.
  • Support / facilitate the inclusion of family voice within organizational practice and procedures are family driven.
  • Complete monthly data entry by providing location / attendance of support groups / workshops and contacts.
  • Represent the agency to the community in a professional manner.
  • Assure client confidentiality and the rights of clients / families as outlined in the agency’s standards, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with internal staff, community resources and stakeholders.
  • Must be able to engage and collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate active listening skills and validate experiences of others, using person-first and strength-based language.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Comfort with virtual convening’s and building of relationships online.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools, virtual technology, and other online data entry tools. Presentation, facilitation, and / or training experience is preferred

Education

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Experience

  • Experience working with parents / caregivers who are permanent caregivers and have raised a child / youth with behavioral concerns and experience navigating systems of care on behalf of that child / children (Mental / Behavioral Health, Child Welfare, or Juvenile Justice) and can articulate the understanding of their experience with another parent or family member and who is willing to share their individual experiences for the benefit and healing of others.
  • A minimum of one (1) year in the role of a Family Peer Support Specialist.

Certification

Certification will occur during the course of employment

Working Conditions

  • Travel time is approximately 50 percent.
  • The position will allow for a remote workplace. The position requires flexible hours including travel which will require overnight stays and local state travel.

Some travel to the office or elsewhere may be required for team meetings, client meetings, etc.

Compensation

Compensation for roles at Public Consulting Group varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.

As required by applicable law, PCG provides the following reasonable range of compensation for this role : $22.00 - $27.

00 and a potential discretionary bonus of up to 10 %. In addition, PCG provides a range of benefits for this role, including medical and dental care benefits, 401k, PTO, parental leave, bereavement leave.
