Assistant Project Manager - Data Center Construction

PTS Data Center Solutions, Inc. is a recognized leader in data center, enterprise, commercial, industrial IT, and technology sectors. We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the construction of data centers, including federal projects requiring meticulous paperwork and detailed follow-up.

Job Location: This position is based at our Headquarters in Oakland, NJ. Periodic Travel to California less than 20% of the time.

Job Responsibilities

  • Communication: Maintain regular communication with the project team, including clients, inspectors, vendors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders essential for project success.
  • Project Scheduling: Update project schedules, present meeting minutes, review and process RFIs, assist with the review and processing of submittals, and prepare change orders.
  • Payroll and Billing: Monitor and report certified payroll, assist with monthly billing preparation, including trade billing review, and review and submit LEED reports.
  • Field Design Changes: Review and approve field design change requests prepared by field and area engineers.
  • Material Management: Ensure vendors have adequate information to supply required materials, confirm materials are ordered, and that delivery dates align with the schedule.
  • Project Closeout: Assist with project closeout activities, including punch list management, warranty document preparation, and acquisition of lien waivers.
  • Quality Standards: Ensure all work meets internal and external quality standards.
  • Resource and Production Planning: Develop and implement plans to meet customer needs.
  • Relationship Building: Maintain business relationships with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and industry associations.
  • Site Visits: Travel to job sites as needed to support field supervisors.
  • Productivity Tracking: Establish methods to measure and report crew productivity, compare results to estimates, and report weekly job progress.

Job Qualifications

  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Background Check: Must pass a mandated background check (SF-85).
  • Experience: 2-5 years of relevant experience as a Project Manager in large-scale commercial construction projects.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with construction cost, scheduling, estimating, purchasing, engineering principles, and accounting principles.
  • Certifications: Must be OSHA 10 and 30 certified.
  • Communication Skills: Proven written and verbal communication abilities; proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft Project.
  • Contract Understanding: Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedules.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Project Management: Working knowledge of estimating and project management with a solid understanding of construction.
  • Safety Regulations: Knowledge of industrial safety and OSHA regulations, with the ability to develop and implement safety plans.
  • Team Coordination: Skilled in facilitating teamwork and coordinating efforts to achieve goals.
  • Supervisory Skills: Excellent supervisory and management skills, with the ability to resolve conflicts constructively.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines effectively.
  • Decision-Making: Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
