PTS Advance is Hiring a Construction Coordinator Near Texas, TX

Location: Texas City, TX
Contract Duration: 1 year long with potential to be extended.
Pay Range: $55.00 - $62.00 per hour
Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring contractors work safely and efficiently in the field and eliminate issues that hinder contractor effectiveness. Focus on work that is current and forecasted within the next month.
  • Safety Leader
    • Lead by Example – FRC's buttoned up and tucked in, ear plugs in, clean shaven, all appropriate PPE. Review and abide by life critical safety policies. All employees caught violating these life critical safety policies will be subject to discipline. MPC Coordinators / Job Reps are as accountable as all safety representatives in the unit.
    • Audit jobs daily ensuring contractors are meeting life critical safety requirements.
    • Audit Contractors field execution vs. their Safety Plan for their assigned job card
    • Complete BBS (MESA) observations on a daily basis.
    • Attend one contractor general safety meeting per week.
    • Attend one toolbox jobsite safety meeting per week
    • Participate in Joint Job Site Visits daily, especially new projects. Don't just attend the JJSV, participate/lead.
    • Review near term future job sites with Contractor foreman to ensure the site is ready and safe for work crews.
      • Trip hazards
      • Egress to and from site is clear and not muddy
      • Lighting is adequate
      • No debris from previous work
      • Falling Objects
    • Grating Removal: When grating/fall protection is removed, ensure the grating removal form is completed and a punch-list item is created to track the removal and re-install. The form shall be scanned and e-mailed to the Turnover Coordinator and saved to in the QC database.
    • Incident Management
      • Discuss injury notification with your foreman, general foreman, safety representatives, operations, etc
      • All Safety related incidents must be reported to unit Operations, Safety personnel, and Construction Area Lead Area Lead as soon as they occur.
      • Ensure a Construction MPC Representative (can be 3rd party coordinator) goes to medical with the injured individual to ensure the correct information is documented in the Incident Fact Sheet (entered by Medical)
      • Ensure any immediate safety issues are mitigated to prevent someone else from being injured
      • After incident occurs and any safety issues are mitigated, document the facts of the incident through pictures and a written statement (within 24 hours). Submit to your Lead.
  • Ensure contractor effectiveness
    • Police Contractor Start/Stop times per below schedule (*= Daily Audit Item)
      • 6:00 AM-Morning safety meeting/toolbox talk
      • 6:30 AM- At jobsite prepping for work
        • 7:00 AM- Permitted and working
      • Lunch-Leave jobsite no earlier than 10 minutes before lunch or at supervisor discretion
      • After lunch-Back at jobsite 10 minutes after lunch
        • 4:20- Earliest to tent. Tent should be empty prior to 4:20.
        • 4:30- Leave tent for gate. No one should be in line at the gate waiting for 4:30.
    • Verify work in the field aligns with what was agreed to in the Next 24 report
    • Communicate any variances or issues to Lead immediately
    • Ensure Contractors are aware of their priorities and near term work forecast.
  • Tick Books (Syntempo)
    • Update progress DAILY in Syntempo (This is not required but is a best practice)
      • Coordinator Update View OR Bulk Progress
      • Utilize redlined Next 24 for Job Card list to verify that all worked Job Cards are progressed.
      • Recommended layout for Syntempo in Appendix
    • Final progress for week due on Friday or last day worked at 4:00 PM
      • Contractors final progress is due at 1:00 PM
      • If weekend is worked, additional updates can be made the last day worked.
  • Daily 24 Hour Forecast
    • Morning: Review current day Next 24 and redline it vs. field review of what Contractors are working and approximate head count
    • 12:00 PM Review Next 24 for the following day vs. current day redlined Next 24 and notify Contractors of needed changes
  • Change Orders (FCO's)
    • Review and approve change orders daily.
    • Ensure change order estimates are accurate on what it takes to do the job.
    • Ensure change orders provide enough details on what the scope of work actually is. If there was a piping bust on the job, have the originator of the change order submit the Isometric drawgs showing what was modified.
    • Review the category of the change order and verify it is classified correctly. Know the difference between an engineering error and a fabrication bust.
    • Reject if FCO is duplicate of previous FCO or scope in schedule, manpower isn't reasonable, scope was not agreed to, etc. . . Always err on the side of Rejection vs. Approval.
  • Coordinator Notes (At Lead discretion)
    • Update coordinator notes by job on a weekly basis. Include pictures if necessary to help explain the progress that is being made on jobs.
    • Include any issues or concerns you have in your coordinator notes.
  • Rental Equipment Management
    • Review rental equipment being charged to your jobs on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Roll-off Box Management
    • Ensure pre-testing of waste/soil is completed prior to starting project.
    • Utilize clean-soil dump areas when possible. Clean dirt/concrete should not go into a roll-off box.
    • Sprint Coordinator
      • Review aging box report weekly
      • Communicate with Environmental on boxes that are older than XX days and need to be tested.
      • Communicate roll-off box needs/requests from coordinators.
      • Ensure roll-off boxes are fully filled.
      • Utilize dedicated dump site when possible
        • Lined with impermeable liner
        • Dirt from different areas must remain segregated
        • Sign must be placed with date of first accumulation, PJN, Project Title, Area where dirt came from and Lead
  • Construction Work Packages
    • Get to know your work scope.
    • Spend some time of your day focusing on understanding your work scope on drawings and walking future work with Contractor Foreman.
    • You don't need to know every single detail but understand the overall direction and path forward.
