PTRSTAFFING.COM is Hiring a Quality Engineering Manager (FT) Near Downey, CA

Salary: $120k - $130k (DOE) 20% annual bonus
Degree: BS in Manufacturing, Metallurgical or Mechanical Eng. (preferred)
REQUIREMENTS: A minimum of 7-10yrs Quality Engineering Mgr. exp. Knowledge of investment casting industry related to Aerospace and IGT products, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing Principles. Strong working knowledge of GD&T. Experience within (investment casting, tooling design, AS9100, QMS (Quality Management System), NADCAP Audit checklist for Heat Treat, FAA, OSHA, DCMA, ISO 9001, and CAD [preferably NX]). Manage projects using process and templates to qualify parts. Develop the Engineering team that creates products and/or designs cost-effective manufacturing processes. Maintain pace of growth in the market and the growth rate of the company. Direct and coordinate the New Product Development Engineering team and Production Engineering team to design cost-effective manufacturing processes both dimensionally and metallurgically using tools and concepts that test the strength of process robustness and meet customer design requirements. 
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead team to develop cost effective tooling, dimensional and other processes required to produce and control the metallurgical and NOT integrity of product assuring it satisfies customer requirements using tools that test the strength and capabilities of the process both metallurgically and dimensionally.
  • Manage projects using process and templates to qualify parts that are manufacture friendly and meet process expectations relative to cost within original committed time frames.
  • Develop and maintain overall operational sequences for part manufacture in conjunction with Administrative, Manufacturing, Dimensional, Quality, and NOT disciplines.
  • Lead corrective action root cause with Quality Manager and Continuous Improvement Tracker with Operations Manager.
  • Mentor and develop staff.
  • Implement and adhere to Engineering Change Notice/Process Change Revision.
  • Create and manage project timelines to bring products to market in an expeditious fashion providing regular status updates to plant leadership.
  • Provide technical support to Sales during part quotations and the review of drawings and specifications. Provide customer with input relative to design and part specification criteria, lead times, and producibility improvements.
  • Develop quotes for tooling customers as required by Inside Sales, Manage BOMs and assure accurate standard costs.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with multidiscipline teams.
  • Keep milestone updates and obtain agreement from internal and external customers.
  • Develop monthly reports on part status and milestone progress to management team and senior staff. (NPI pipeline)
  • Work across multiple departments and with multiple disciplines during the development process.
  • Conduct effective customer and supplier communication dealing with metallurgical and other issues related to the product and process. Support customer needs with respect to overall product quality, cost reductions and general goodwill.
  • Oversee the troubleshooting in production processes related to Engineering.
  • Communicate with tooling vendors to design concepts for tooling.
  • Oversee the construction of tooling needed to produce and inspect cores, patterns, and castings.
  • Oversee the creation of work instructions for all production processes including the documentation of work procedures and processes.
  • Work with shop floor personnel to provide understanding of work instructions.
  • Enforce safety standards.
  • Routinely audit production lots for adherence to established techniques and to ensure the repeatability of the results.
  • Research new manufacturing techniques and processes focused on reducing costs and improving quality. 
  • Prepare technical notes and reports dealing with proposed process improvements.
  • Identify, evaluate and implement new process technologies that advance manufacturing and product capabilities.
  • Identify and address process yields using various data analysis techniques (statistical, mathematical, DOE, 6 Sigma, AS9100, etc.) to uncover variables in the process that are not maintained in a controlled fashion.
  • Compile and monitor scrap statistics on a daily/monthly/annual basis to meet facility targets.
  • Identify gage R&R, SPC, non-straightening processes and other cost reduction initiatives.
  • Improve labor utilization and reduce cost of components.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere with respect and communicate in a professional manner.
  • Travel to customers and different manufacturing sites during the development process as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education: BS in Manufacturing, Metallurgical or Mechanical Engineering preferred. Other engineering disciplines may be considered based on previous work experience.
  • Experience: 7 to 10 years of applicable experience (investment casting, tooling design, and CAD [preferably NX] experience).
  • Proven success in process improvements using mathematical and statistical problem-solving techniques to identify process.
  • Variations in manufacturing processes with many contributing variables, increasing levels of responsibility.
OTHER REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SILLS & ABILITIES: 
  • Excellent engineering skills. Knowledge of investment casting industry related to Aerospace and IGT products. 
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, AS9100 (QMS - Quality Management System), NADCAP Audit check list for Heat Treat, FAA, OSHA, DCMA, ISO 9001 and Lean Manufacturing Principles. 
  • Strong working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Excellent management skills and Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Program management skills, Excellent organizational, interpersonal and documentation skills. 
  • Good conflict management skills, Strong collaboration skills, Assertive, and Ability to work successfully in a team environment.
