PSC Construction is Hiring a Project Manager Near Blair, NE

Project Manager

Full time position: 50 hour per week

FLSA Status: Exempt

Working Hours

7:00 am-4:30 pm

5 additional hours to be scheduled at employee’s convenience.

30-minute lunch break

Reports to Director of Operations

Expectations: The Project Manager is responsible for, but not limited to the following: plan, direct and coordinate activities related to construction. The Project Manager will participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversee its organization and scheduling. The Project Manager will lead, motivate, and direct site personnel; direct site performance, bidding, scheduling, and profitability; and, direct and oversee site safety in correlation with the Safety Director. Twenty five percent of the Project Manager’s working hours are expected to be spent in the field to ensure productivity of morning huddles, meeting with clients, inspections and oversee coaching.

The Project Manager has the following specific areas of responsibility.

Preconstruction / Project Leadership:

  • Assists the team including the Owner, Designers, Governmental Authorities, and other Consultants through the program management process.
  • Assists with the development of conceptual budgets, estimates, schedules, and proposals.
  • Manages project and owner expectations.
  • Reviews and determines constructability of design.
  • Assists with the drafting, reviewing, issuing, and administering contracts.
  • Makes every effort to achieve the profitability of assigned projects in correspondence to set budgets.
  • Assures quality is upheld with site Superintendent in alignment to project requirements.

Client / Customer Relationships:

  • Maintains good professional relations with past and existing customers. Continues to engage them to ensure they are a customer for life.
  • Assists with the procurement of work.
  • Communicates with the client regarding the team’s performance during projects. How can we improve our performance?
  • Provides and schedules weekly progress meetings to ensure schedule, budgets, and expectations are being met.

Communication:

  • Manages communication process with clients, engineers, subcontractors, superintendents, and management, and staff throughout the process.
  • Represents the company in a public setting.
  • Leads all team members, internally and externally, to clearly state all goals and expectations.
  • Establishes dates and timelines for work or tasks to be completed.
  • Promotes the company internally and externally.

Safety:

  • Promotes a culture of safety at all levels of the organization.
  • Ensures compliance with the company policies, state and federal laws, OSHA, building codes, nondiscrimination requirements, etc.
  • Ensures that all risk assessments are completed, and proper site-specific safety documentation is communicated with the project team.

Staff Leadership:

  • Manages daily team issues.
  • Leads project teams and delegates roles and responsibilities.
  • Mentors project team members.
  • Maintains strong professional relationships with the team by disseminating information, engaging in job related issues, and enhancing relationships to ensure the success of each project.

Professional Development:

  • Advances learning through training and education courses to gain greater expertise.
  • Provides mentoring to internal team members.

  • Ability to effectively manage the personnel and resources related to project staff.
  • Effectively delegates roles and responsibilities and provides opportunities for growth in others.
  • Ability to solve issues, make decisions, and communicate / implement the decision quickly.
  • Knowledge of construction means, methods, and techniques as it relates to the projects and services the company provides.
  • Ability to follow and comply with standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple project teams.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management staff, company project staff, vendors, contractors, and project owners on any issues/problems related to the project.
  • Ability to manage job costs effectively and oversee the job cost projections.
  • Ability to see the projects through to completion.
  • Ability to develop win-win scenarios and bring final resolution to issues and problems.
  • Knowledge of product costs, labor costs, and associated time frames essential to developing cost effective project budgets.
  • Ability to use written and verbal communication effectively.
  • Ability to see other's perspective with regards to their concerns.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during peak periods of activity.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Construction safety standards.
  • Associate degree in Construction Management and 5 years in project management/coordination or equivalent experience required.
  • Excellent ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Proficient with Bluebeam
