Position Summary
Reporting to Site Sustainability & Environmental Manager, the Health & Safety Manager leads in the development and execution of health and safety initiatives in partnership with facility leadership for two manufacturing separate sites located on same campus. The Health & Safety Manager will provide oversight and assistance in the development, implementation and coordination of health and safety programs and policies to ensure goal attainment and compliance with all applicable regulations.
Job Objectives/Initiatives:
- Responsible for the development, implementation, training, and maintenance of policies, programs and procedures to reduce team member injury, minimize company exposure and ensure compliance with PG safety management system and all applicable Health and Safety laws and regulations.
- Has influence, stewardship, and ensures alignment on programs involving team member engagement, Consequence Thinking and/or behavior-based safety processes.
- Builds competent Health & Safety teams at facility sites through communicating corporate procedures, coaching, training, and follow up on issues related to health and safety.
- Supervises one direct hourly Safety Lead.
- Partners with Corporate HSE, other Site HSE Team Leaders, and facility teams to develop strategies and execution plans in response to key H&S initiatives to promote a Zero & Beyond culture.
- Proactively provides hands-on support in areas such as: Health and Safety Procedure implementation (Corporate and site specific), behavioral safety processes, problem analysis/troubleshooting, and interpretation of applicable legislation.
- Facilitates and drives compliance with PGNA Safety Mandates.
- Partners with Environmental and Quality Managers to ensure ongoing compliance with Integrated management Systems (9001, 14001, 45001).
- Drives a safety incident reporting process that ensures effective investigation, reporting, and best practice sharing throughout their business unit and GCC.
- Conducts and assists with internal and external health and safety audits and meets with regulatory agencies during facility inspections/audits as required.
- Acts as a support resource in the development and review of facility specific health and safety training needs analysis, operational reviews and new installation assessments.
- Leads investigations into serious or critical EHS matters as directed by senior leadership.
- Partners with Facility leadership to participate in key Health & Safety team meetings, Kaizen events and other key meetings where Health & Safety representation is requested.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and or environmental studies, engineering, or other related field
Experience
- 4 plus years of direct H&S experience including OSHA compliance, behavior-based safety, process hazard and risk analysis, root cause evaluation, incident management, standards and procedural development, auditing, and training
- Demonstrated passion for safety excellence
- Extensive knowledge of US health and safety regulations (OSHA, NFPA etc.)
- Knowledge and Experience with ISO Management Systems a plus
- Knowledge of cable manufacturing desirable
- Knowledge of worker’s compensation regulations
- Strong organizational & planning skills
- Excellent analytical skills & problem-solving skills
- Proficient with technology such as excel, PowerPoint, Word and other standard computer applications
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (oral & written), able to interact with all levels in the organization
