Prudhoe Bay, AK - Worley Careers is Hiring an UAV Drone Operator Intern (Rotational Schedule) - Prudhoe Bay, AK Near Prudhoe Bay, AK

This is a remote/ rotational position, working a three weeks on and two weeks off schedule. The position will start with a training session (Energy Drone & Robotics) in Houston, TX, between June 9th and June 12th, then move to Prudhoe Bay, on June 13th, to start the normal rotation. The typical schedule is 84 hours per week (40 hours straight time and a minimum of 44 hours at time and a half). All meals and lodging are provided by Worley while the employee is on location. Transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided.

Job Purpose:

The function of the UAV internship will be learning the principles and best practices of operating enterprise UAV platforms, along with specialized sensors used in the inspections and data gathering for the Oil fields in Prudhoe Bay Ak.

External Description:

This position requires the ability to work safely with others in a team environment and the ability to communicate clearly with customers, contractors, and fellow employees.

The program will be designed for the intern to gain firsthand experience and knowledge in operating and utilization of operating advanced systems used in the following disciplines.

·Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) – Used to map underground infrastructure.

·Internal infrastructure inspections, using drone mounted LiDAR/FLIR/Video sensors.

·Drone mounted Flame thrower used to re-light flare stacks.

·AI software used to detect issues in post inspection reports.

·Flight management database, used for all aspects of flight operations.

 

Essential Functions:

·Work closely with the operations, maintenance, and engineering teams across area to complete inspections utilizing unmanned aerial vehicle inspection technologies.

·Set up pre-flight safety plan for each mission.

·Continuously innovate and create use cases for drone technology to be utilized.

·Follow all FAA guidelines to ensure each location can be flown as scheduled, in a safe manner. 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

·Perform calibration of test equipment prior to conducting a survey as applicable.

·Perform qualitative surveys which shall include evaluation of the equipment and record a video clip or photos of the area/areas of concern.

·Equipment may be operational, shutdown or isolated as determined by tasks described in the work order.

·Ability to work effectively within the clients work management system.

·Become familiar with Petro Chemical plant equipment and processes as well as the associated safety systems.

·Ability to perform qualitative surveys on the spot go/no go evaluation of the equipment or process being observed. These surveys may require recording a video clip or photos of the area/areas of concern.

·Familiarity with regional facility process as well as process safety.

·Ability to document accurate, detailed information per industry and client standards.

·Perform Pre-Survey Safety Checks to include:

oNotify Area / Unit Operator.

oObtain applicable permits.

oInspect work to be performed.

oDocument / report safety issues that may be encountered during the performance of related tasks.

·Flying up to 8 hours in a day.

·Recharging equipment 'on-the-road' (batteries, controllers, tablets, etc...).

·Attending project-specific training of specialized flight plans.

·Driving to remote locations (off road).

·Following project-specific flight plans.

·Following all FAA guidelines to ensure each location can be flown as scheduled, in a safe manner.

·Performing a formal Risk Assessment prior to any/all flights.

·Continuously innovate and create use cases for drone technology to be utilized.

 

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Work is performed in a remote Arctic environment with limited medical resources. Candidate understands the site is approximately 840 miles (at least 4 hours by air ambulance) from surgical, specialist, and tertiary medical care, and where medical evacuation from this location may be significantly delayed due to weather conditions. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is required to: 

·Must have ability to stand, walk on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, crawl, reach through low and high ranges, work overhead, and exhibit normal balance and coordination. These basic physical requirements are essential for safe performance of the job in harsh environments with exposure to very cold temperatures and while wearing arctic gear.

·Standing for prolonged periods of time.

·Driving for prolonged periods of time in the dark and inclement weather

·Ability to climb scaffold, ramps, stairs, equipment, portable ladders, and/or wellhouse/tank/facility fixed ladders of 20 feet or greater.

·Ability to wear and utilize fall protection within manufacturer specifications.

·Lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist with two hands.

·Lift 50 lbs. from floor to shoulder with two hands.

·Carry 50 lbs. for 15 feet with two hands.

·Push/pull 60 lbs. sled for 20 feet.

·Push/pull 90 lbs. cart for 20 feet.

Qualifications:

·FAA Part 107 Certification

·High School diploma or equivalent (GED).

·North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC). Worley can provide NSTC certification training if needed.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Education utilizing UAV Technologies.

·Experience working on the North Slope of Alaska.
