Job Description

Prudent Engineering is seeking Construction Inspectors for various projects throughout the state. The ideal candidate will have 3 years of experience conducting inspections on Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems including new construction and renovations of existing buildings. The ideal candidate will review blueprints and specifications, monitor construction progress, inspect interior/exterior work, utilize survey instruments and measuring tools to verify completed work, take photographs and generate daily observation reports. Prudent Engineering operates as a client’s representative throughout the State of New York and parts of Pennsylvania for large scale commercial construction projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and facilitate all construction activities and correspondence related to the Client.
  • Provide daily onsite field representation to monitor construction contractor’s performance and inspect the work in accordance with specifications and drawings.
  • Monitor all construction activities scheduled with emphasis on milestones, phasing/ sequencing, submittals, efficient and balanced workflow, major test and any unique requirements needing special schedule or tracing.
  • Monitor project for cleanliness.
  • Monitor and inspect the contractor(s) for compliance with current safety regulations, standards, project safety plan and report any non-compliance to the Client.
  • Immediately notify the Client when any life-threatening conditions are observed and aid as necessary to remedy such situations.
  • Provide electronic daily reports of the contractor’s and sub-contractors’ work activities witnessed during site monitoring. Provide summary of all work completed and discrepancies from the requirements of the Contract Documents.
  • Provide pre-construction, daily construction, and post-construction photos of the site and all work performed.
  • Provide project coordination and construction quality assurance services for the technical aspect of the project.
  • Physically verify correct materials delivered and/or in secured storage on or off site, proper materials installed, and percentage of work satisfactorily completed and in place and provide this information to the Client.
  • Review shop drawings and as built drawings to verify details are accurate and follow the contract documents.
  • Prepare Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) if construction operations are not performed to contract requirements.

Qualifications

Minimum Experience:At least 3 years’ experience in inspecting large-scale commercial buildings. 

Desired Education: Associates Degree in Construction Management

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent Required
  • Ability to measure and compute lengths, areas, and volumes.
  • Valid driver’s license in the state of New York
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior Experience with New York State agencies, authorities, and departments.
  • Associates Degree in Engineering or Construction Management or another related field
  • OSHA 30 Hr.
  • New York State Code Enforcement BCI or CEO
