Position Overview: We are currently seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join the Oncology Dept. As a Registered Nurse (RN) in Radiation Oncology, you will play a crucial role in the care and support of patients undergoing radiation therapy for cancer treatment. Your responsibilities will involve coordinating patient care, administering radiation treatments, providing education and support to patients and their families, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct initial assessments of patients scheduled for radiation therapy.
• Educate patients and their families about radiation treatment procedures, potential side effects, and self-care measures.
• Provide emotional support and address concerns related to treatment.
• Administer radiation therapy treatments according to the treatment plan prescribed by the radiation oncologist.
• Ensure accurate positioning of patients for treatment and verify treatment parameters.
• Monitor patients during treatment sessions for any adverse reactions and provide appropriate interventions.
• Follow strict safety protocols for handling radiation equipment and materials.
• Monitor and maintain radiation safety measures within the treatment area.
• Adhere to all regulatory requirements and organizational policies related to radiation therapy.
• Collaborate with radiation oncologists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
Qualifications:
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of practice.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Certification in Radiation Oncology Nursing (OCN or Certified Radiation Nurse) preferred.
• Previous experience in oncology nursing, preferably in radiation oncology.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMRs) and basic computer skills.
