Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Citizen or provide a Certificate of Naturalization.
• Degree: Certificate.
• Education: Graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) of the American Medical Technologists or a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces.
• Certification: Certified Medical Assistant Only: Current certification as a medical assistant by the American Association of Medical Assistants or Current registration by the American Medical Technologists or other formal program as specified in the TO.
• Experience: One year of experience as a Medical Assistant after graduation.
Duties:
• Prepare exam rooms before the patient's arrival.
• Obtain the patient's medical record following appropriate procedures.
• Check the patient's vital signs, including temperature, respiration, pulse, weight, and blood pressure.
• Obtain and document the patient's current medical history, drug history, chief complaints, allergies, and vital signs on the correct Standard Form before the patient is in the exam room.
• Assist the provider as needed during exams.
• Perform diagnostic procedures when ordered, including EKGs, urine dipsticks, phlebotomy, etc.
• Transport patients to other clinical areas as needed.
• Check each chart for the provider's signature, stamp, and each patient's diagnosis before returning the chart to Health Records.
• After a physician has verified the medicine and dosage, the HCW shall administer medication to patients.
• Obtain lab and x-ray results.
• Maintain exam room stock levels and perform routine maintenance of exam rooms, including dusting, cleaning wash basins, etc.
• Complete lab and x-ray requisitions per clinic policies.
• Enter demographic data into the computer upon patient check-in; enter diagnosis and departing time when the patient is released.
• Answer telephone and transcribe accurate messages.
• Ensure that any broken or unsafe equipment is removed from the clinic promptly and notify appropriate personnel.
• Assist with patient flow and give direct patient care as directed.
• Operate the following medical equipment, as directed, such as Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor, Hand Held Nebulizer, EKG Machine (12 lead), Electronic Thermometer, IV infusion pump (Set-up only), and Tynpanometer.
Start date:
• As soon as possible pending Federal Security Clearance process completion (typically 4-6 weeks after initiation)
Schedule:
• Services shall be provided Monday through Friday, between the hours of 0700 to 2000 hours. Shifts will normally be scheduled for an
8.5-hour shift, to include an uncompensated 30-minute lunch break. In no instance will the HCW be required to
provide services over 80 hours per two-week period.
