Position Summary:

The SIS Developer will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of software applications and systems within the University's Student Information System (SIS) environment. This individual will collaborate with stakeholders across various departments to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions that enhance the functionality and usability of the SIS platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, and database management, and experience working with enterprise-level SIS systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, test, and deploy custom software solutions within the SIS environment to meet the needs of stakeholders.
• Collaborate with business analysts, system administrators, and end-users to gather requirements and define project scope.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code using appropriate programming languages and frameworks (e.g., Java, JavaScript, Python, SQL).
• Integrate third-party applications and external systems with the SIS platform, ensuring seamless data flow and compatibility.
• Optimize system performance and troubleshoot technical issues as they arise, implementing timely solutions to minimize downtime.
• Maintain documentation for all software applications and system configurations within the SIS environment.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in SIS development, recommending updates and enhancements to improve system functionality and user experience.
• Provide technical support and training to end-users as needed, assisting with system upgrades, migrations, and new feature implementations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement system enhancements and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., FERPA, GDPR).
• Participate in the planning and execution of system upgrades, patches, and migrations, ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations.

Minimum Skills, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of five years of experience in software development, with a focus on enterprise-level applications and systems.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, Python, or similar.
• Experience with database management systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and SQL query optimization.
• Familiarity with SIS platforms such as PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Ellucian Banner, or similar.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and implement effective solutions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
