Position Summary:  The psychiatric registered nurse will be involved in dual programming, the Intensive Residential Service Home and Crisis Observation services . This position will provide direct oversight and care of clients to ensure appropriate and necessary client medical and psychiatric needs and services are met. The psychiatric RN will supervise and direct the medication management of clients in addition to working as part of the team to provide support and help clients enhance their skills. We are seeking candidates for 2nd shift, 3rd shift and weekend packages. 

Job Description

1.Supervise the provision of medication monitoring/ administration by staff including supervision and providing training

2.Participate in team meetings as needed

3.Complete nursing assessments and medication reconciliation for clients

4.Review and assess referrals for medical and psychiatric appropriateness in collaboration with the prescriber, program manager and clinic director.

5.Assess physical health of all clients

6.Provide medical and psychiatric education to clients and their families

7.Conducts medical/health/wellness assessments to identify health care needs and assist in developing health care goals with the treatment team.

8.Collaborate and coordinate with primary and specialty care providers

9.Assist with coordination of care regarding hospital admission and discharges

10.Track required healthcare assessment and screenings

11.Provide training to staff on medical disease, treatment and medications as needed

12.Provides on call coverage as needed

1. Collaborating with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, therapists and case managers both within and outside of the agency
2. Collaborating with clients, caregivers, and significant others
3. Providing behavioral health education and behavioral management strategies while holding client accountable
4. Assessing clients for additional treatment needs and linking them with needed services
5. Having knowledge of physical health aspects of client care, including weight, nutrition, medication education, assessing and education of side effects, risks and benefits of medication
6. Proving clients with community resources
7. Provide leadership in the day to day activities of the department (as a shift charge nurse)
8. Meeting with clients independently as referred by Psychiatrists and psychiatric APRN's and for triage
9. Communicate and document observations and interventions, while seeking and utilizing guidance from team members.

2Qualifications

·Iowa RN license – psychiatry specialization or previous work in crisis settings.

·RN with BSN preferred

·BLS certification preferred

·Experience working in a residential setting is a plus
