The Supervisor Coding is accountable for the development and operations of the coding/abstracting acute-care services. This role includes working with key stakeholders across Providence; developing and executing strategic plans around acute-care coding/abstracting and clinical documentation (coding-related) improvement initiatives; participating in, leading, and partnering with others on strategic and tactical integration efforts; ensuring a compliant, effective, and streamlined operational experience for Coding. This leader, therefore, will need to have strong training, communication, technical, and leadership skills.

Successful accomplishment of the primary duties of the position is dependent upon establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with: the Epic Revenue, Access and Organizational Readiness and Training teams, Hospital Administrators, Clinical Leadership and other key stakeholders across Providence in finance, operations, risk management and internal audit.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Health care related field or equivalent educ/experience

• AHIMA approved coding certificate program is required for those who do not have the RHIA or RHIT certification and

• Upon hire: National Certification from American Academy of Professional Coders or

• Upon hire: National Certified Coding Associate - American Health Information Management Association or

• Upon hire: National Certified Coding Specialist - American Health Information Management Association or

• Upon hire: National Certified Coding Specialist - Physician - American Health Information Management Association or

• Upon hire: National Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner - American Health Information Management Association or

• Upon hire: National Certified Health Data Analyst - American Health Information Management Association or

• Upon hire: National Registered Health Information Administrator - American Health Information Management Association or

• Upon hire: National Registered Health Information Technician - American Health Information Management Association

• 4 years ICD-10 Coding experience

• 2 years Leadership experience

• Proven history of proactively identifying, resolving and escalating issues that impact business and documentation outcomes. Showing good decision-making skills based upon a mixture of analysis, experience, and judgment organizing and planning with demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and achieve results in a fast-paced environment. Epic experience.
