Providence Schools is Hiring a Teacher - High School CTE Automotive Technology (SY 24-25) [One Year Position] Near Providence, RI

Please note that this position is available for one year only. Hired candidates will be displaced or non-renewed from the position for the following school year, however, displaced teachers remain district employees and will be guaranteed a position in SY 25-26. 
Providence Public Schools District (PPSD) seeks an exceptional HIGH SCHOOL CTE AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY TEACHER who is highly qualified and skillful to join our community of teachers, students and stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity for teachers who seek a challenging yet rewarding teaching experience.
 
We serve approximately 22,000 students at 37 elementary, middle, and high schools. Approximately 55% of students come from homes where English is not the primary language spoken. Combined, our students and families speak 55 different languages and hail from 91 countries of origin.
In PPSD, the teachers and leaders set high expectations for academic achievement, provide equal access to differentiated instruction, and endeavor to close the achievement and opportunity gap among historically marginalized subgroups within the schools. REPORTS TO: Principal
 
**Contingent upon funding**
  • Bachelor's degree in the applicable field of education preferred.

  • Preferred five (5) years of recent (within last seven (7) years) trade based or equivalent full-time employment directly related to the technical field.

  • OSHA Certification required prior to start date

  • Bilingual strongly preferred

RIDE Certification Requirements:

  • Secondary Grades Career And Technical Education Teacher, Grades 7-12 - Automotive

OR

  • Automotive Mechanic Automotive Service Technician Certificate

ESL Certification Preferred

  1. Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active and engaging learning. 

  2. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment, using relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction. 

  3. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities and provide appropriate feedback on assignments. 

  4. Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing a warm, welcoming, and culturally relevant environment.

  5. Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and regularly use data to observe and evaluate student performance and development to adjust teaching strategies. 

  6. Maintain and update accurate and complete records of students' progress and development. 

  7. Communicate information regularly to students, colleagues, and families regarding student progress and student needs. 

  8. Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities to support all students.

  9. Actively participate in and contribute to department, school, district and parent meetings and professional development.

  10. Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests, and assignments according to state standards.

  11. Perform other duties as assigned.
