Child Life Specialist - Social Services at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital in Spokane, WA

The Child Life Specialist plans and implements a Child Life Program which is focused upon the emotional and developmental needs of the hospitalized child, adolescent, and family. S/he works with members of the Medical, Nursing, Social Service, Chaplaincy, and Volunteer Services staff to provide a comprehensive and integrated range of therapeutic activities.

Utilizes age related concepts when communicating with patients and families, administering medications, using medical equipment, participating in diagnostic or other procedures and when teaching Patients/Families. S/he is able to evaluate work performance to assure an effective Child Life Program from development through implementation.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Development, Recreational Therapy, or Elementary Education
  • Upon hire: Nationally Certified Child Life Specialist by Association of Child Life Professionals
  • Currently enrolled or have completed a Child Life Internship Program
